Mike and anybody who may be interested……

The model will be kept in the car in the car park on Saturday only

Duckie and I will be hanging around the Etherow stand, for most of the day

Just turn up and if I'm not there, leave a message with one off the attendants and we'll take it from there

Can't have the model on the club stand for all sorts of good reasons

              Bob

                Hi Bob,

Looking good, when you say you'r going to tidy the boat up, are you going to paint the hull, just to let you know I've got plenty of Frog tape for the line between the white and red, good stuff and no bleeding through the colours, let me know if you want some?.

                Duckie.

                  Thanks Duckie

Not looking forward to applying the water line stripe yet

It's a bit cramped below the rubbing strip area for my liking

Will probably buy some plastic lining tape at Ellesmere

                    HI Bob

Dont by the expensive model tape, go to your local carspares shop and get the custon lining tape, different widths and colours.

                    Mark

Bob. I think it is only sensible to use some sort of lining tape between the hull and ani-fouling. It is so difficult to get a really crisp line that thin, when 5 mins work gets you the same result.

Looking really great now. Does look a bit top heavy but I realise that the hull is bigger than it looks in reality and the upperworks are only ply. This is of course a feature of such a boat, the crowning glory…all that dark wood above the deck, and you have got it spot on for looks.

Can I just urge you to get some figures to bring it all alive???

                        Many thanks Mark and Ashley

The water line line will be no trouble……No sooner said than done!

The difficult part is getting the line absolutely dead straight!…….It's not easy, since the tape grabs too easily

Ashley, I was only thinking about the model being a bit top heavy, last night……Will need to consult the Chief Engineer about this question………The only snag at the moment, is that he is sunning himself somewhere in the Black Sea

He can, if he feels like it, make contact with the outside world……So what d'yer think, Paul?

Would be nice to have a sneaky floatation test!………..Fancy it Duckie?

Yes, a floatation test is the way to go, and see how the land lies.

Someone needs to get a drone and drop Paul a satellite phone into his hotel.

Bob, re the waterline tape, you could first apply some masking tape just above or below where the waterline tape will go and adjust it to get a really straight line. Then just butt the waterline tape up to it, press into place and remove the masking tape.

The other thing to watch is do not stretch the waterline tape when you are applying it otherwise the job will literally suffer from mission creep!

                              Many thanks, Colin

The problem is that the rubbing strip is a bit too close to the waterline and too close to the bottom edge too

How about this for lateral thinking?……..

Sellotape top and bottom edges of required strip……Then with a straightedge, cut the tape accurately, top and bottom….Then simply paint the strip line?

                              We'll give it a go!

                                Bob,

Yes, it is a bit tricky isn't it? Actually I think you can buy tape where you remove a strip in the middle for painting a line but not sure where you get it.

Also, bear in mind that the 'boot topping' should rise slightly at the bow. Not only does this look better but if you apply it straight then you can get an optical illusion that it is drooping at the front!

                                Colin

A simple answer to getting a thin straight line paint boat in line colour ,then use a( go faster) stripe for the line required . Found in your local car paint shop, remember you will find the perfect thickness .

Then cover the boat with the finished colour ,remove the go faster stripe leaving a perfect line where ou want it to be winkMichael

Colin the pinstripe tape is called 'the striper' made by an American company, Finesse Pinstriping Inc. I found mine on eBay. ( must confess I haven't tried it yet, ) but basically it is two tapes stuck to a 'carrier tape' the whole lot is stuck where you want it, and then the carrier tape is peeled off leaving the two tapes each side of the paintable hole. If that makes sense.

                                    Chris

Hope to see you two and others also at Ellesmere……..Hope the weather improves, as snow is forecast this week

Bob. Please please please please get an electronic ESC (s). Are those Bobs boards going to hande 20A+ from each pair of motors when under load…when they get hot just on tickover out the water !!!!

i suggest you fit a fire extinguishing feature in your boat.

Great motors, a real feature (will they look so good in black??)
