      Thank you, Ashley

Lino was naturally my first choice and I hope to lay a lot more in the engine room, to get the vintage look…Especially upstairs in the control room

We are open to any suggestions to further the image

That lino looks great Bob, I'm impressed. Is that what's called "thinking outside the box"?laugh

Hello Peter……Thanks for calling in……We are pleased you like the period Lino

I'm really enjoying building this Jumbo model and like the unusual features……Motor drive and transport wheels etc

We've got snow and ice here in the UK and plenty of it at the moment

Bob, if it makes you feel any better the temperature here has been in the low to mid 30s Celsius, but the humidity has been around 80%smile d. Luckily we are currently at the seaside in our caravan, and it's only 100 metres to the water, which we have been in frequently. Unfortunately we have to go back home on Thursdaysad

I am really enjoying your build, and the innovations therein. The Abell drives look marvellous, and the wheels are very inventive. I'll be interested to hear how it all works out when the big launching day arrives.

            Peter.

              Work in progress

Constructed a most unusual rudder mechanism……..Just to be different

Note the single connecting rod along the back edge…….Tricky wire bending job

All hidden away under the Edwardian Lino

                Hello Captain Sir Bob

I have just heard that you will be sailing the VGC at Ellesmere, is the workshop planning a secret special event or is this just a canteen rumour made up by the guys in the woodwork shop.

                Paul

                  Sorry Paul

The Ellesmere Show will be too soon for a sail……It`s just an hopeful optimistic rumour created at the Lymme office

But it should be on show to entertain the troops…..There`s only about five weeks left!……Crumbs

I like to take my time these days at a leisurely pace and there`s a lot to be done

Finished the rudder mech and the Oilcloth covered floorboards

Duckie came up with a good idea for the front wheel…..A towing stick with the front wheel built into the stick and a positive location between the stick and the keel

                  Good idea, Mr Teal

                    Design Office to Workshop

What's all this about taking it easy? I wouldn't mind but I'm signing for all that overtime that the workshop has been claiming for since Christmas,

I bet those expense claims for new machinery, tools and a holiday research trip were all made up as well……and I didn't even get invited to the workshop Christmas party.

                    sad

You wanna try bunging all that stuff down those mucky chimneys, wearing a big red coat and keeping all the Prancers happy on a Black un!

Workshop Christmas Party?……..All we had was Mince pies, cigars and grass!

Capt Geoff has managed to conquer the mysteries of forum posting and made a welcome appearance on the Shop Floor, to inspect the work in progress of the VGC

He can`t get over the enormity of the build!…………Little does he know, he`ll be helping to get it down stairs!

Stairs down to the engine room, from the main cabin…….Hoping to make the engine room looking something special, for a change, rather than my usual mass of untidy wiring and batteries all over the place!

With a few shiny brass handrails, it should look quite nice

Many thanks, Cookie, Len and Paul

Doing my best to make an eye catching job of Paul`s concept design

After all, I`ve only changed the Transom end from Pauls original, as I fancied the rear canopy feature

                                    The rest is untouched

The steps lead down from the rear door

Believe it or not, I was varnishing this lot at six o`clock this morning!…….It`s always nice to make some progress

Latest work in progress for us all to weigh up and admire or otherwise?

Admire indeed! This build is not only massively impressive (and impressively massive) — it is also very, very pretty! I really like the checkered decks contrasting against the panelling work and the lovely Abell engines!

Any idea where the C of G should be along the keel?

I would guess about half way along?

                                              Hi Bob

                                              Glad to help

On the original layout F4 was the centre of gravity with the motors fitted between F4 and F5, the batteries were intended to be installed width ways between F5 and F6 (as close as possible to F5)

However the build and fit out is radically different from the design so I am sorry to say that it is impossible for me to estimate where the new C of G actually is.

No matter what changes I`ve made to the innards………The hull C of G should still remain in the same position?

                                                Eh?

                                                  Hello Captain Bob

The C of G should be in the same position as that was the design intention, in that the boat would sit correctly in the water, however when mass is added (motors, batteries etc) this can potentially change the C of G.

The original design had specific locations for the mass and as such the C of G would remain constant but the changes that have been made i.e. extra superstructure and additional motors will most certainly have altered the C of G and fresh calculations will have to be undertaken.

                                                  Paul
