Good luck Racing your new Barge today, You've had some horrible weather i understand, Fingers crossed its perfect racing weather today, Not much going on down here, Just got back from Holiday to NZ. Ive not any definite plans for a new build just now, so I'm contented refurbishing old models Bit cold out in the shed.Good picture of Veronica, she looks tip top.

Hi Andy, glad you enjoyed your NZ holiday, we are off to Spain in couple of weeks , a break awayfrom the workshop, plenty of time to formulate sketch some new projects to build. Barge yacht Nancy Grey high on the list, as she is berthed at Faversham Creek 15 miles from here

All the best from the UK

              Hi,

in the past few days I participated in the open championship Footy in South Moravia, near Znojmo .. Výrovice

The technique betrayed me, ruder servo burned during race. Then I participated in open regata with my barge Capricorn. It was my first race. my model also had the first opportunity to sail on "big water".
It turned out that I need to adjust the sails to add and manage a large jib servo.

Technique was against me once more..maybe battery collapsed after first round in second race.

Weather nice and hot, but the wind was very weak, so the  models of the racing sailboats were the first ..

                Happy Days,

Lovely warm day at Maidstone, with light airs I'm pleased to report Veronica managed 2 1st places & 1 second, little Gertrude my 30" barge cleaned up and won all her 3 races very happy, it has to be said not against massive competition but good shake down for the first races of the season for me.

                Regards Ray

Hi , All, has anyone used the vac formed keels for a TSB from mastman, if so do you know what is the best glue to use to stick the two sides together?

If they are the usual type of vac-formed plastic, then something like Plastic Weld works as it does more different plastics than most solvents.

Hi, Ray, Back to the TSB thread! yes I have been doing work on Veronica, I might be putting the horse before the cart but I have made all the masts and spars first, when they were finished I thought if I set them up on a false deck ie. a piece of MDF, the only thing that is going to change when fitted to the hull is the length of the various stays and of course the material they are made from, I could then make up paper patterns for the sails and and make them, at the moment I have just started on the staysail, that only leaves the mizzen to make, the hull is my winter project, so by next year I hope to have a fully rigged and functioning Thames Barge to sail.

Thanks to you and Mattias for showing the way to make sails for TSB's it has made the job so much easier, and to Tom who has sent me information on the rigging details, I think I will finish up with part model rigging and part scale rigging so that I have a boat that is easy to handle but still looks like a TSB as far as possible.

                                      Regards.

                                            Hi All

These sailing barges are a good size fully rigged, and the management is not too happy with them on the conservatory window cills, so the void area above our staircase is ideal to keep them out of harms way Photo not up to much!

ref the 'sail by sail' book, the author was in fact the late Peter Hearne….and it should still be available from the TSBT Sales Officer, via this email address…[email protected]. It contains highly detailed diagrammes of the rig of a barge…incidentally if people want to sails a full size barge then a weekend saiing with the TSBT is extremely good value.
