      Hi Dave,

My next match will be Silvermere, rumours are Maldon water level very low, check before you go, it's a lovely place but a blooming long way from the IOW, and relatively small lake.

      Regards Ray

            Hi Andy,

What are you building at the moment ? I guess as we are approaching summer it must be snowing about now for you ? 😀 we are off to Malaga next week for some proper sun.

              Hi Andy

Peter Simmonds did tell me later that it may still be worth a visit.

That's after I'd told the good lady I wasn't going.

So will be playing it by ear .

              Thanks for letting me know

              Regards Dave (IOW )

                  Hi Ray,

I am building and have almost completed, apart from sea trials, the Nixie Submarine, A bit wary about sailing it, water is a bit too cold for a dip if things get out of hand, I don't fancy a murky pond this time of year and the big pond at 22c still too cold. Hope your weather is much better.

                  Andy

Hi. All have now fitted new sails and a sail arm servo to my Veronica TSB the peak of the sprit has been lifted by about 4" and is now 24" above the deck, the sails then had to be re-made using Dunelm's best poly cotton bed sheet in Terracotta and a lot lighter than the original sails.

                            dscf3537.jpg

I originally fitted a sail winch with a continuous line running through a tube around the stern under the deck, the sheets for the vangs and mainsail were then fastened to either side of this line and inline with it,but if the sails didn't pull the sheets out they would tangle and pull the line of the winch drum.

Sailing today she handled much better and was faster, at times keeping up with a Marblehead yacht, but wouldn't point into the wind as well, and she didn't heel as much.

                            Regards.

My little 30" Gertrude has a single standard servo with an arm, giving direct control to both the main sheet and vang seems to work ok, most racing is won or lost close hauled beating to windward 😃

Yesterday I put Gusty Cat for the first time on the water. After about 5 minutes the servo rudder stuck. I was glad to get the model to shore. It seems to me that even with a small staysail the model will run well.I have to replace the servo and then try the model again. Unfortunately, I was not able to take a picture of the model during the very short cruiseimg_1709.jpg

                                              Hi gents,

mea culpa, mea culpa .. today I tried to turn on the GK receiver again, nothing worked. Finally, I found that the battery had a low voltage, about 9.5V.Then I could be surprised that nothing works…
If it comes out tomorrow, I'll go back to the park with the model. For a change … I hope at least a little wind will blow……when model seems to be ok…

Lately I have problems signing up here at MB. Yesterday I entered a new password three times, and today again .

                                                  img_1723.jpgHi Eddie,

                                                  next troubles with password now.

So … I found out that the servo was probably OK, the problem was caused by a discharged battery. I recharged the battery and took the spare battery with me. Everything was OK. I loaded the model + accessories onto the cart and brought them all to the park to the pond. The weather didn't feel very good to me, it was quite cold by the water,

and the wind almost did not blow. The model behaved unexpectedly well on the water, so I could make some photos.

Next time I need to fix the clutch on the auxiliary engine and I would like to install a mini voltmeter to monitor the battery voltage. It would make my control much easier.

Next photos are in the album (Gusty Cat)

                                                  Regards

Hi. Tom,pleased to hear that you are slowly eliminating your problems, as you say not enough wind to fill the sails.

                                                    Perhaps another day though.

Charging my batteries at the moment ready for tomorrow, but rain is forecast, Susie May only uses about 250 milli amps over a 3 hour sail time.

                                                    Eddie.

As soon as I get home I will start work on it and hope to have them all completed for the Bluewater Meet.

                                                      All the best.
