Mark, I have always used Marineflex by Specialist sealers. They do black and white. It is easy to use and sticks like shit to a conventional model boater! cleans with turps and sands when set. Affordable Sikaflex.

            Cheers,

            Martin

Before I discovered Marineflex, we used Sika to basically glue together the Range Rover HLS prototype model, when they belonged to BMW. The lovely anthracite one at the Frankfurt Motor Show. I worked for Volke (Sauerlach) at the tie and we were doing a lot of BMW stuff. Even the (VW Passat) door handles were glued in with Sika, as were the door skins to their steel frames and a lot more besides! You wouldn't believe what's under a show car! And Brits build them because the Germans lack a lot of the materials and processes we take for granted.

But…Marineflex is as good and much cheaper, per cartridge.

On the Marblehaead front…would you Adam and Eve it? I get it out and up end it on the workmate, fill onne side of the rough old keel and it rains!! So I come in for lunch and the Sun comes out again. Grrr!

Managed to finish filling the keel on the Marblehead today and started rubbing down and painting. Several coats

sanding sealer later to seal the bits of bare wood and a guide coat of self-etch primer is where we are, but I think it'll stay there as we have to move some time soon and at least the hull is now sealed.

                      Hi Mark,

I was going to use a primrose that my son had for his car, but it seemed a bit light when I put some on the nose earlier, so I'm still think along the primrose line, but with some richness to it. I then have a nice Brunswick green to go with it on the underwater section, possibly with a gold boot-topping.

But it's going to need a LOT of wet'n'dry before top coat!

The boat in the foreground was a Sun tug, but with a change of scale and deck layout it'll be a steam launch for my new launch engine.

To the right, a Darby One Design hydro from plans in an old Motor Boat Annual, then a Greavette, modified from Griswold plans, then a Sea Hornet, being modified to a Chris-Craft Barrelback and finally an MFA Sesqui, modified to a kneeler hydro by adding ply sponsons. Get the impression I can't leave well alone? My Sea Urchin is utterly unmodified, right down to its Kako motor, twisted tinplate prop and complete lack of r/c<G>. It is, after all 56 years old and deserves respect. My Crash Tender is 52 years old. Oh! also, behind the Marblehead is a GRP hull of Dorade, the famous ocean racing Yawl.

There's a framed up Victorian cutter in the corner, a Sea Urchin and a Veron Veronica yacht under the bench. At my son's place is a vague v bottomed boat somebody gave me and my old Crash Tender.

                      That's my lot, folks!

                      Cheers,

                      Martin
