      Hi,

I really hope someone can help !

I am starting again with RC Boat's after a very long time so sorry for my ignorance on certain thing's !

I am restoring my Father's Fairey Huntsman which has been in the loft for over 30 years !

I am looking for all the window frames and grab rails for the top of cabin's,I would go as far as buying a complete Precedent unbuilt kit if i could ever find one ( the chance's of that I know are remote)

      She measure's 33" long (840mm)

Thank's for reading and well, you never know !

Is the superstructure (cabin) already built? If so you can use the window cut-outs as templates for the frames. Cut these about 5mm wide from something like 0.8mm ply or 1mm styrene sheet, then make the actual windows from 0.8mm clear acetate. The "grab rails" can be fabricated from 1/8" diameter dowel and bass/lime sheet, stained mahogany and then varnished. There are plenty of pictures of fiull-size Huntsmen from which you could scale them **LINK** and there are even more in the Gallery.

Here's a diagram from the SLEC Huntsman instructions which show the windows and frames quite clearly. I've recently used Stick2 double-sided tape instead of canopy glue and it's remarkably good.

If you send me your regular E-Mail address via a Private Message then I can send you a full-size template for the big windscreen.

Yes, I noticed that when I was scrolling through forum’s yesterday, what a legend isn’t he Colin

              Thanks Dave,

I think I was looking for an easy way out of getting over the problem, the boat superstructure is in a slight poor state now but I’m determined to see this through ! It is already built and has been used years ago but a leak in parents loft has ‘upset it ‘ to say the least ! It’s not past it by any means I’m sure.

Any ideas on the make of the boat alongside it ?

Bought for me when I was about 14 I think (now 57 !!) I think it is a Wave Princess ??

Thanks for you help on windows Dave, I’ll have a go.

No gain without pain Ralph but Dave's suggestions will do the job and won't hurt too much.

I'm sure Dave will appreciate your description of him as a legend but us old cynics prefer to regard him as a long standing fixture.

He can't half design kits though….

Sorry, Ralph, but there's no accompanying photo to your last posting so we can't help with the other model's ID.

                  Colin
"Long-standing fixture"? How can you say that after just 47 years in the business?? As for "legend" the OED includes in its definition "an extremely notorious person". I don't think I want to go there! wink
