      Hi all.

I have a model of the Royal barge built from a Deans marine kit. The motor in it gets VERY hot. I therefore want to replace it and was thinking of an MFA Torpedo 500. Would this motor be suitable or would it be to big? Can anyone suggest a suitable motor please?

      Thank you.

Hi Alan. Does Deans recommend anything in the way of motor/prop?

what motor/prop/voltage have you installed at the moment?

Getting hot can be due to for instance friction in the propshaft or coupling as well as too small a motor for the prop size.

Have you given Dean's Marine a ring? If the model is fitted with the original motor there sounds like there could be something wrong, as Ashley suggests, but the motor might also have been changed for something unsuitable by a previous owner. I would check the basics first such as disconnect the motor and make sure the shaft is free to turn and Is the supplied voltage withing the capabilities of the motor etc.
