If you are going to open up all the limber and drain holes in the hull, as Ray suggests, then you are pretty much committing yourself to scratch-building the top of the pressure hull with all its ductwork, torpedo storage cylinders, etc., as well as the bits that would be visible through the other hull openings. Whew! That would be a tremendous job, but the results would be spectacular. I have to say, even with the dollar doing so badly against the euro, this project is a severe temptation (hm., it would need a decent stand, too — I reserve the the right to come back and ask for advice on how to do that)
