I have seen many references to using a hobby king car esc on the forum. I want to use a hobbyking car esc forward and reverse. There are two 60 amp controllers shown on the hobbyking site does anyone know the difference between them?

It would help to provide a link to the ESCs you are wondering about. I did a search on HobbyKing and found 9 60A ESCs – 3 of them with 'car' in the title.

Of those three, one is a TrackStar model, the other two are HobbyKings. One of those uses an X-Car programming card, the other does not. There are also differences in the BEC output – they are different prices – and one weighs 60g while the other weighs 84g. What kind of difference is important to you?

Have a look through Harry Smith's various posts. This is his favourite ESC – in fact I don't think he used anything else!

              Hi Ian

Dave's right I have only used the Hobbyking car ESC's (HK-30A, HK-45A, HK-60A SL and HK-100A) because the club members use them .

Same program card for all (PROG-CARD).

Same set for all boats(except for the different batteries).

Plug into radios like a servo and no setting up.

Small and light (maximum 106 grams), electric fan for cooling and no plumbing for water.

The only thing is they only handle up to 4S Lipo batteries and 100 Amps.

So I do have a few water cooled ones for higher power and voltage.

Our ESC set up for boats

              1 Cutoff Voltage for 3S=10.2 and 4S=13.6
              2 Start Power Percent=10%
              3 Advance Timing=4
              4 Run Mode=2
              5 Brake Force=1
              6 Drag Brake Force=1
              7 Neutral Range=1
              8 Initial Brake Force=1
              9 Reverse Force=1
