Curious as to whether anyone has used old soft or beer drinks cans to build with? I've sort of always thought about using them it would allow for superb detailing on an older riveted style hull. Only downside would be the fragility of them. Perhaps enough ribs again fabricated out of recycled cans could sort that.
Thin lips folded and interlocked pressed then soldered would perhaps seal them obviously they'd need a light rub with fine wet and dry to take the coating off them.

I've seen printer's litho plate used to represent hull plating but only as a cladding. Aluminium cans are even thinner so perhaps should also be considered as a cladding material rather than a structural material.

Soldering together tin plate, easily available cans, used to be a favourite method of construction in lots of boys magazines in the day.

I suspect modern tin plated “tins” are of a much thinner gauge than of old and will have ridges in them (for expansion during the cooking process) which makes then less suitable As a material source.

I had my collection of “O” gauge Hornby track replayed in bright tin a while ago. Transformed it completely, at 50p a section (I had about 120 bits done!).

I tried last night to cut a few steel beer cans and have a go at a simple join and shape. Sliced my fingers. Perhaps the contents of said cans were partly responsible. Idea shelved for now. 😂😂😂🙈
