Aerokits Fast Patrol Launch

I’m currently building a copy of the Aerokits Fast Patrol Boat. I don’t have the plans but I spent  some time looking over my fathers original with a rule and vernier. I have now started to build it & it being documented on the http://www.modelfireboats.com web site.

This is a little premature but exactly what is this boat? When you take a close look at  the design, the windows and cabin outline is similar to that of the Fireboat which I believe is a model of a boat made by Vosper. So is the Fast Patrol boat a copy of an actual boat or just a "likeness".

The next question is what  was its intended function – Police boat, Harbour pilot or Customs & Excise?

The reason for the question is that I’m looking for some direction as to how to "decorate" the boat on completion.
