Hi. All, welcome aboard Brian, Ray is leading this pack with his build, Roger and I are a little way behind, but we do benifit from his experience.

Over the next six weeks I have three weeks away, TSB racing and a Tug day at Bluewater and then a family get together, so not much building for while.

Hello Cossacks,

Back to the steering department, looks like the single rudder on the plan is correct, and to be honest the only option for a kwik build. so with some brass rod, tube and small piece of 18g brass sheet all traced and cut to shape, silver soldering is the strongest method of soldering with the job really clean, Easyflo flux as a paste with water on my trusty fire bricks and lamp we have a rudder

I have been and collected more Balsa today. Got some beech sheet as well – That stuffs got expensive since i last bought some.

Thanks for those pictures, I think the original Tribal turrets were replaced on the surviving ships after the war, I have found some pictures of the removed turrets from an Australian Tribal.Regards

Hi. Cossacks, further to the above photos here are some of a Deans Marine 1/96 Cosack.

The rear hatch over the rudder stock.

Rear upper gun and blast shield.

Torpedo tubes amidships.

Forward upper gun.

Forward blast shield.

Anchor winches.

Hope these are of some help, I have more of the superstructure if they will help.

Thanks for the pictures, it would appear the turrets as drawn are not very much like the real one's which gives me a dilemma ! Simple or accurate? Canvas covers over the recess & guns could be the answer?

Hi.Ray I agree, the more you look at pictures of the full size the more confuseing it becomes,I have been looking at the pictures in The Enclopedia of the worlds Warships and they look different again, I will try to get a picture of it onto here for us.

Often wished I could get hold of one of Norman Ough's books, the drawings are in some of the early Model Maker & Model Boats mags,

I think we maybe getting in deep water with more information on the actual Tribals, but thanks anyway, are you tempted to join our merry band?

I think Stand Off Scale is beginning to sound good.

I have a couple of jobs to do; on my latest model = change the motors over; running a tad too hot and finish the paintwork on this model and on the other model I have to finish off the diving bell and the electrics – I will then be joining the Cossack build tribe

That's good news, we are not rushing the build, and we all have other ongoing projects, variety the spice of life and all that 😀

I put the rudder servo into Cossack last night so the moving parts are well on the way now before starting the decks & superstructure.

After receiving my set of plans i have copied them and picked up some picture mount glue to tack them to the balsa

My plan of attack is to cut all the parts out first. 😂

I managed to get side tracked yesterday have a go at rc yachting. Boy did i enjoy it. What great fun. Now the wife has to buy me a Dragon force for Christmas 🤗

Hi. All, that sounds good to me Brian, you neen to try TSB racing, I was lapped in all the races I sailed in by Ray,but it was still a good day.

Back to Cossack, here are the pictures of Cossac I mentioned ealier.

This last picture is across the centre of the book so is distorted, but all the pictures should give an idea of the layout and position of all the deck elements.
