        Good evening Cossacks,

The great thing about a larger ship project is the ability to build some others parts which will be needed later, so having a Go at the gun turrets 😀

Good Evening holiday makers & Cossacks,

Something about being by the water is so attractive & expensive 😀

Turrets simple balsa make up, I thought 1/64th ply wrapper was a good idea at the time, not sure now 😀 still it gives a fine surface, may have to turn some 1/8th dowel for the gun barrels.

Good evening fellow cossackers, but iffy with the weather today but strolled the town with eyes open for fishy (read boaty) bargains, everyone thinks that if they put a sailing boat on display and say that it can be sailed then it's worth £650!!!!? It was certainly not as good or as big or detailed as our Thames barges.

Took advantage of the high tide and good weather this evening to sail my Flying Eagle on the high seas, very enjoyable, sorry no photos, too busy having fun. laugh

                Sleep well peeps

Hi. All, I'm glad you're having a good holiday Roger, you should be all bright eyed and bushey tailed and ready to go when you get back homesmiley.

I put the resin coat inside the hull yesterday, a double layer of glass fibre in the bottom to support the ballast, and tissue inside the planking, this has strengthened the sides a great deal, like Ray I am going to start on the top works, should have a delivery today of ply and hardwood, some for Cossack and some for the IOM.

I had thought of using 1/32" ply for the gun turrets, but maybe balsa strips would be easier around the small diameters?

                  Regards to all.

                  Eddie.

                    Hi Eddie,

Knocked up a stand from 12mm mdf board tonight , 1/16" balsa fine for the turrets, our daughter is moving house on Friday so I'm becoming a removal van driver 😀

                    regards Ray

                        Evening Cossacks,

Long procedure starting with 1/4" drill then some copper tube sharpened then a length of bright mild steel rod with some slots cut in the end and a lot of luck 😀 2 long holes drilled for the stern tubes, and try the props for size & clearance. So far so good !

That's the worst part of the build over now in my mind, I think it should be all plain sailing from now on

I'm guessing one of your projects is in the October issue?? Good for you I have a couple in the pipeline.

Hi. Ray, yes very neat, that is one of my to do jobs, but not looking forward to it, as you say a long hole and a lot ofwood to go through, but I do have some extra long drills to hand so just a bit of care needed.

                                Regards.

                                      Evening Cossacks,

The only down side of the thick base planks of this type of construction is the cutting and carving required to get the 385's low enough to keep the stern tubes as low as possible for scale effect, here she is on her mdf stand going to keep her on an even keel 😀

                                        Embarrassing to say the least.

Canoeing around was great. Not too many jelly fish either so got a good swim in 🤗

Some progress I see on the Cat too.

Have made some progress on my IOM and just waiting for a small order from SailsEtc to finish of the sheeting.
On the lookout for a second-hand Spectrum DX6i as the transmitter I have is a bit too good to go boating with. The DX6i is a cheapie that is programmable. Important for setting servo end points so as not to wind the rig into the boat. EEK!

Must be warmer here today at 30deg than Mallorca? , rather uncomfortable for the workshop 😢

Cossacks & cat progressing well, but have been press ganged to tiling the porch floor !

I have a Spectrum radio for the Dragon Flyt but mostly use cheaper Hitec for flying as I'm mode 1,
