I am not a great fan of model Lifeboats, but this one of yours looks so real it is fantazamagoric! (yes that is a word,look it up) spelling may be a bit suspect.

Hi Paul,

I have to agree with Len, (if you take the crew off – they actually look like models), it would be very difficult to distinguish the model from the real craft – a credit to your eyes and modelling skills.

Thank you also for the kind comments you might be interested to know that I have been contacted by a film company who intend to make a film involving a lifeboat and they want to do a lot of shooting with models.

The down side is that the lifeboat explodes and of course they can’t destroy a real boat so after all the filming they ultimately wish to blow up my model

.

I have declined but it was a nice little distraction whilst it lasted.

A few days ago when your lovely lifeboat masterpiece appeared on this website….there was a description with the photograph and you mentioned two motors with a name attached……..and I`ve looked everywhere on the site but can`t find it!………Where do I look please?……I would like to know more about the motors

Hi Bob

They are Johnson motors and these are my favourite electric motors. They operate anywhere between 6 > 12v have an inbuilt cooling fan and are very powerful.

These motors are used in cordless power tools and are extremely reliable but they can have a large current draw under full power.

Where do you get these motors from etc?…….what speed range etc?

The motors in Great Eastern are only experimental at the moment and may need replacing with something more powerful in the near future

I get mine through a trade contact but you can pick them up off e bay for as little as 2.99 each (these are used)

They have the power and the speed to get a 4ft wooden Huntsman up onto the plane.
