          Hi there Ray

            Hi Bob,

Sometimes a new project is therapeutic, I find building a diversion from thinking about work

Quite fancy this little cruiser with the sliding roofcruiser2.jpg at the front.

            All the best Ray

              Hi,

              I found interesting Murphy´ law… I am not sure if I translated it properly…

              Murphy's laws

              > Murphy's questioning of the context of time and action

              > You can never say how soon it may be too late …

Hi, Tom, That sounds about right, but I may have to think about it, as long as it doesn't make it too late!

I have been meaning to post some pictures of my TB build but haven't got round to it yet.

When I first started the build I wasn't sure of the rigging details, but you kindly pointed me in right direction, but I have now got a drawing of Celia Jane drawn by David Metcalf and it gives a lot more detail of the running rigging and all the deck fittings, it complements all the other information I have, It came from The Model Dockyard, sorry but I don't know how to provide a link to his website.

                regards

                Eddie.

                  Hi Tom/Eddie,

You have lost me with all that highbrow stuff

Unfortunately AMBO & Mastman will not be exhibiting @ Headcorn show, which is shame, but I will be lurking around the Chantry MBC stand with a few of my boats, if you fancy a sail on the pool, I'm taking Gertrude & my little micro magic.

Yesterday's AMBO finals were a great success for Veronica & Gert both won medals for second places to the indomitable Peter Simmonds of the IOW, we will try harder next year

                  Regards Ray

                    Hi Eddie,

.. you must choose either to make an exact copy of rigging, or choose a simplification. This is where Ivor Bittl's site helped me. Currently, his site is provided by someone else, under https://www.ivorbittle.com/. Unfortunately, some images have been dropped or are not readable. Design mainsail sheet I copied from Peter Simmonds, control vangs from Ivor Bittle. .

Hi. Ray, Tom,I am going somewhere down the middle of full scale standing rigging/ running rigging for this build, when I have seen first hand some models this next weekend I will have a better idea of what I am doing!

Congratulations Ray on your success over the past weekend,I am looking forward to Headcorn and I will take you up on your offer of a sailsmiley.

                      Eddie.

I'm keeping my eye on the forecast, it's not looking great for the weekend blowing & rain

                            Hi,

I also watch the weather forecast for this weekend. (some rain we have to wait on Saturday). I have to take part in Footy races and show my model of steamer – quarterwheeler Lulonga . The water surface is in the middle of a forest (!) So there is probably not much blowing there. Maybe I'll leave my model bge Capricorn at home.

I made some "ironwork" for Gusty cat in last days, sorely but I have the problem to add more photos to the Gallery

What can you please advise me …? Or is there any simple way to copy photos here ??

                            Tom

I gave photos here at least here

                                    Hi Tom,

Once you have logged in you need to name and create an Album, then edit album, then add photo, you then select your pictures and select the photo you wish to upload.

There is probably a better description of the process on this forum, keep up the good works with your boats

I have Album with my Gusty Cat ,I just wanted to add some photos .. and I did not get it … I do not know, I think older Albums can not edit for some reason.

I tried all this because I can not directly add photos here .. only via album… How do you do that?

I have at last taken some photo's of my TSB hull build so far.dscf3233.jpg

The hull planked with 3/32" balsa, I have put my 24" rule on so that the size can be gauged.

                                          dscf3226.jpg

The topside with the 1/32" ply deck pieces cut and laid in place, the deck will be planked with balsa the same as the hull, only with 1/4" wide planks.

It was also nice to see Veronica in person!

I hope I can meet up with you again sometime, perhaps at Bluewater or Hearne Bay?

Ditto, we did sail a few times, but as the pool was only 1 straw bale high the pool was fairly shallow and wary of running aground, I did,nt want to be the one who had to go paddling!! Veronica has now hibernated for the winter, great see your progress so far with your hull you will be proud of her when finished.

                                                  .Hi Eddie,

                                                  very nice model construction !!

As I see it, I had to build my Gusty Cat model like you. Expanded polystyrene as a base for .fiberglass hull plating was not a good idea.. as I had to use a lot of putty..The result was not proportional to the work done, as I can see now.

I am not completely satisfied with my work, but after using more of the putty and then spraying the model in black, the model looks pretty good…mainly for non-professionals.. But end good – all good…

                                                  All the best !!

Hi. Tom, Thank you for your kind remarks, am I correct in assuming that you do not have access to all the materials that we are fortunate to have here? If so it must be difficult to decide what to use to get the desired result.

                                                    Keep up the good work.

                                                    Eddie.

                                                      Hi Eddie,

                                                      you're absolutely right.
For us (in CZ) it is problematic to get to GB materials. Postage is unbearably expensive, and so modellers are unbearable in GB to buy the necessary stuff. Unfortunately, the quality in some cases does not even correspond to the required amount (price and postage), especially when I take into account the exchange rate of our crown to the British pound (1Ł = 28,70 Kc,1€= 25,70 Kc).

So I have to say that scratchbuild is usually the only option here if we want to build models such as the Thames Barges,.Of course there are a number of kits available, where everyone can choose the model according to how he likes – and how much money he can spend for his hobby. …I have several plans and books from GB, and I do not think about other things. If I can compare the real value of things, then the same thing is at least 3-4 times more expensive in GB than in our country … that's life. we basically compare incomparable..
