Just returned from the IPMS International in Telford .It was a truly fantastic experience with . thousands of models and hundreds of vendors from all over the world , and that is no exaggeration and I am worn out just trying to see what was on offer ,I have the sore feet to prove it. There where hundreds of ship models of all differing types , kit ,semi scratch and scratch in all scales including a massive 1:72nd Iowa class battleship . The big names of the Trade ,Airfix, Revell , and Italieri had massive stands showing their new releases and hopefuls for the future .

here is just a taster , A full review is to appear in the pages of Model Boats in due course .

Airfix with their HMS Queen Elizabeth , maybe?wink 2

New from Italeri the Vosper MTB 74 due for release next week .

For R/c the long awaited Ready to Run Fletcher class destroyer at 1:72nd scale from Aquacraft models.

After reading the report on the show in last years magazine and seeing this, I can't help but think plastics seem to have a good future within our hobby. Manufacturers like Airfix, Revell etc seem to release new kits or re-release old kits on a regular basis, whereas it is rare to see a new kit for r/c, other than a plastic-magic conversion.

Hi Tony I agree the IPMS scene is vibrant with a good impute from the trade which in genuinely international . Telford show generates plenty of interest but more importantly has a good generational base with companies like Airfix nurturing an interest in model making with large workshops at the show catering for hundreds of youngsters. The show attracts around 25000 visitors of all age groups with many overseas clubs attending . All of this has a knock on effect which really does make the show buzz with activity .

Dave Wooley Thanks for taking interest

              Hi Dave,

it's a real pity this show is on at the same time as the IMBS, there really is a considerable cross over of interests. Just looking at the first photo showing Humbrol acrylics. When was the last time we saw air brush and paints at a boat show, I think it was Dortmund. We get very good trade stands for kits, woods, tools etc but the paint side doesn't appear very often.

And your shot of the Italeri stand reminds me I have a PT 109 all engined up and now here to go as I've left it be for so long. I've now got some moires so will get her done, Ellesmere calling, Ellesmere calling!

Look forward to the full report, Kim.

Hi Kim and Dave .at Telford there are many vendors and manufactures specializing in air brushing , paint and accessories and this is what much of the IPMS is about .Many of the vendors and manufactures hold demonstration sessions , one of which I attended I am reminded here about an old dog and tricks well you really can .. Telford has similarities to Dortmund Intermodellbau in size , presentation and a high level of international participation but it is essentially static model making. Although very different to Warwick or even Haydock what you say Kim about a cross over of knowledge and information  is true indeed. .

Thanks for taking interest Kim and Dave
