This looks like rather a good camera for a boat..!

Thanks for these links DG. I have bought a new card and things seem a lot better- did I mention that I bought the Veho Muvi VCC-003? It'll be fun to try it out again and do a bit of simple video editing.

That last camera does looks just right for a boat- I've been attempting to make some ventilators recently- that could be just the job! But perhaps not at eighty quid each.

          Hi

Just jumping on this late. I have automated a boat with two cameras. One is an intova diving camera and the other a Chinese clone midships. Cost $80 aus a few months ago. They both have 2 hours battery life. I have to say the bow camera with intova gives the best view.

            Hello John,

Thanks for these- fantastic videos, especially with the footage slowed somewhat to give a more scale feel. I have actually seen some of this before on You Tube when I was scrounging round on there and was impressed then. I also like the swivelling camera- presumably you monitor the image wirelessly from the bank?

Here is a link to another video I'm very fond of where the maker has gone to town with it all- lots of fun!

Here is a video I took with my Veho camera. It was a second attempt- the first was when I discovered the card wasn't up to it. The video was taken at Cheddar Steam Club a week ago. I had to learn how to use a new video editor as Windows 10 doesn't support Movie Maker any more which was a nice, easy program to manage (let's not go there!).

I'm not sure about the music which I found on the editing program, but it's better than the whining of the esc! It was fun to do and I feel it was a promising start. It would probably be better to have the camera pointing out of the side of the boat for the purposes of shooting other models, so I'll try that next time.

                  Hi Bob,

Thanks! I think the resolution would be better on a more expensive camera but as Mattias said, it's a case of deciding how far one wants to go with it. It's fun to do.

At Cheddar there is a brilliant launching area- a ramp down to where you can stand with the water at waist height. I'm the chap standing next to the gent with the steam launch, which I'm fairly certain is based on the old Wide-A-Wake design. I'm wearing a blue tee shirt, straw hat and sunglasses. You forget that you'll be in the video if the boat is pointing at you!

The lake started as the test lake for Cheddar Models who no longer exist. Cheddar Steam Club have done wonders there with toilets, a clubhouse, ample parking and friendly people- a very pleasant place to spend a sunny afternoon. There is also an extensive layout of 32mm, 45mm and 45mm LGB track for the railway enthusiasts.

                    Hello Ian,

That looks very nice indeed! A beutiful day, some very nice models on the water and what looks like an excellent model boating lake – not least was I very impressed by the breastworks that allow worktable level access to the boats while they are on the water! Clever!

                    /Mattias

                      Thank you Mattias,

The launch area is very handy. In our local club we use plywood launching cradles as we are mostly gents of middle to advancing years.

Thanks also for your suggestions about cameras etc.
