Hi Norman if it's 37 inches long, it will have been built to 1:16th scale as the Tynes were 47' long and if built to 1:12, the model would also have been 47 inches long………..nice model just the same….and would go well with Slipways 1:16th Trent and Tamar boats.

Got to agree with Neil (and I'm RNLI myself), Tyne class are 47 footers, thats why their numbers are "47-006" etc the 47 is the boat length, in this case in feet.

Your previous posting was for a Mersey class, Norman, and their numbers are "12-012" etc the 12 being 12 metres, whereas the Oakley class numbered "37-016" their length being 37 feet. Could you have got your dimensions mixed before, as you were quoting 47' for a Mersey at 1/12 and now are quoting 37' for a Tyne at 1/12?

The new Shannons will be numbered "13-001" as they are 13 meters long. It's all in the numbers. So a 1/12 Shannon would be 42.6" or 1.083 metres.

Still, its a ery nice looking Tyne from your pictures, and although I was brought up on Oakleys and Merseys, in the Irish Sea we always think of the Tyne as the best sea boat – especially in a following lumper!

                Hello Neil,

she's arriving here for my birthday, I'm qualifying for my bus pass on the 12th – so what's so glorious about that.

Hope to take a good look around, and who knows, might get a quick trip out too!

                Cheers, Kim

                  Hi All,

Just got in and read the comments (emails) and yes you are all correct the model is 47" and not 37". I should have been more careful before publishing. Good to see people looking at my posting.

If there is a way to amend the original message, it is eluding me at the moment.

                  Regards
                  Norman

I have altered it for you – Colin

I got to have a sail on her this morning Kim………glorious……..only a short one from the pen at Fleetwood RNLI to the Wyre dock, for lifting out………..but boy what a treat………..my daughter enjoyed it too.

Check out that bus pass, mate. I was 60 over 16 months ago and I don't get my bus pass until September. Maybe the spare seat in the donkey cart from Douglas to Peel already has your name on it, in which case good luck and happy birthday!

                      Neil
I don't suppose you could persuade the cox to bring Shannon up the Trent to Beeston Marina? I've just bought a new camera.

                        Very jealous Neil – very.

Now hear she's not due here till Saturday at earliest, and then maybe not, just when we have a nice Irish Sea gale forecast too.

Dave, slightly different over here, once you hit the 60, all you have to do is fill out the form, available on-line, then take (yes take) in person to Douglas Sea Terminal complete with two photographs (so they can see its you) then wait a week for them to send back. Simple!

Hows the workshop? I got two new 1.5m LED tubes to replace old Hg ones, and all it says to do is remove and replace the starter with the supplied by-pass. Problem I have is there's the blasted ballast in there suppling power to both ends, whereas this tube is powered from one end. Oh, and no instructions either! The guy here just said "take it out."

Still, I'll enjoy tomorrow thank you, and see you on the circuit, Kimmo.

Have given up on waiting for the lighting panel mounting brackets to come from ROC – I think the donkey carrying them took a wrong turn at the lights in Istanbul. The guy who fitted the electrics is making me some from L-section ali, to my drawing, so we should be illuminated by about midsummer day! The LED panels have been here six weeks or so and they are superb. I just wish they weren't still in their boxes………

One of the many things that I miss about living on the Island is watching the sea come storming in and crashing over the Douglas sea wall.

                                          Happy days

Neil, loads in the harbour, though she went out in the Bay too far for my little camera. I'll collect a few up and send on CD if you PM me with an address – second cox, mechanic + 1 from Fleetwood say hi, they came over with her to IOM for a jolly, but went back on the Ben – lucky them – in the wind last night.

                                                Neil,

I've got the water jets already, from Dortmund, so am going to make a stab at the hull later this year if nothing forth coming from anyone. I do know that the hold up is not being given access to the lines and full drawings – seeing as its a true RNLI design I expect they're keeping a lid on as long as possible.
