I am a big fan of tools available from Lidl Supermarkets under the PARKSIDE brand name. I have three of four of their 150 mm (6 inch) digital callipers around my various workshops and where I undertake my design work. These I find invaluable and at £9.99 incredible value for money. Amazingly from this coming Sunday (16 March) they are again available but now at £7.99. So if you are still using one of the old style vernier callipers, ease the strain on you eyes and give a PARKSIDE digital calliper a try. Also, from Sunday and at the same price is a PARKSIDE digital protractor. If you have never tried PARKSIDE tools and associated items, give them a try and I am sure you will not be disappointed.

Hi David,

Yes I agree entirely the Parkside tools are brilliant value 🙂  My first digital vernier was £82 30 years ago and it still works , but have a couple of the cheaper one’s also, have you been back to the Chantry club at Bluewater recently ? it’s almost my second home these days.

Ray – No I only went to Chancery just the once. I am currently building another tug (quite an unusual design) for hopefully inclusion in M B magazine.
