As a newcomer to this select gathering could I offer you a little constructive advice? You'll see from the way your photo URLs have been formatted by the forum software that this isn't the best way of showing them. One of the good things about Model Boats Forum is that you don't need a third-party host for them.
If you click on Albums (the camera icon) in the pale grey toolbar right at the top of this page then follow the instructions to Create an Album, you can upload your photos to that album and then link that to your postings. Photos must be in JPG format and I would suggest no larger than about 600kb each.
Also – and absolutely no offence is intended here – your text appears 'breathless' and would be easier to digest with a little punctuation here and there. Some of us old geezers aren't that fluent in Textese!

            Hello Dan

Welcome to our little group of model boating recidivists, some of our members such as Mr Milbourn are experts in this hobby and are well worth listening to as their advice is born of years of experience.

Dave is correct about a breathless approach to writing, I tend to suffer from the same thing so I opt for the punctuation machine gun approach. I load my Vickers with a belt full of commas, apostrophes, full stops and question marks and give the text a quick burst of grammatical bullets, don't forget that you can never have too many apostrophes.

Some of our chaps can be a little grumpy, especially at nap time, so it is best to make allowances for this but when wide awake and fuelled on Sanatogen they can be very forward thinking…… in much the same way as The 7th Earl of Cardigan was.

I hope that you enjoy model boating as much as I have and I can honestly say that, contrary to all evidence, model boating has kept me sane through the years of insanity that made up my working life.

            Welcome again and good luck

            Paul

Into the valley of deaf went the model boaters

What did you say, half a mo,
we can't hear at the back,
All in the valley of Deaf
                Mumbled the six model boaters.
                "Forward, the empties.
"Charge for the bar!" he said:
                Into the valley of Deaf
                Staggered the six model boaters.

"Too???" Blimey, Doc – that's the very first time I've seen you forget to use the wrong spelling!

                    Hello Dave

Like you I had a classical education and suffered endless boring lessons on the correct use of grammar and punctuation.

However when I went to higher education and studied contract law the lecturer advised us against using the word 'too' and stick with the far less ambiguous 'to' as this would avoid any deliberate misunderstanding if the contract conditions were ever used in legal proceedings.

Just as you spotted I have been deliberately miss-spelling 'too' ever since but as you were flying the flag of punctilious grammatical exactitude I thought it best to play a straight bat and be idiomatically acceptable.

Only you would misspell 'misspelling'. I'll bet it was someone like you who put the 's' in lisp, to.

                      Dan

Please ignore this persiflage. I'm looking forward to seeing your photos.

Please excuse our hijacking of your thread, as you might imagine we don't get out much these days and can only get onto the internet when our nurses are out at the bookies.

Isn't it about time that you invested in a s'thesaurus and moved on from using 'persiflage'….try banter, badinage and jesting for size or even jump straight to big words like frivolous and flippant.
