Very happy this year that we have robins and blue tits using the nest boxes in the garden after not being used last year.

They are not long off fledging as the parents are very busy flying backwards and forwards with tasty morsels.

The robins’ training of me has gone very well again in that if they see me at the sink they fly over and perch near the window so that I go and feed them and chase off the greedy starlings after I’ve let them have some food.

The robin’s really easy as I can get really close and he/she poses for me! When feeding I have to be careful because they are around my feet.

Great shots Chris.  We have a friendly Robin amongst our regular visitors and it aways seems to be the least bothered by us.

Well the robins and blue tits fledged early one sunny morning so we missed them which was a shame. A couple of the young blue tits were seen being fed by one of the adults and a couple of the young robins came into the garden for awhile.

The adult robins were feeding the youngsters for a couple of weeks and were visiting us numerous times during the day for food which they were taking a couple of gardens away where there are some bigger trees. When they wanted food they would sit on the garden table or chair just outside the patio door until I got up and fed them come rain or shine!

Both robins are still coming back once or twice a day with one of them being particularly friendly. Today my wife was sitting in the garden and he perched on the arm of her chair until she got some food which he took out of her hand, he’s a right cheeky chappy!  I know their behaviour is driven by survival but it’s so nice having them trust and interact with us – it puts a big smile on my face when he arrives and leads the way to the food.
