custom made nameplates

Hi all, hoping that I can tap into your knowledge – I am looking to source a nameplate for an elderly bout that I found in a charity shop. Have taken it upon myself to renovate and get it pond-worthy again. Any advice and tips would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum 😀 try Narrow Planet Etched Brass Name Plates, they have various sizes and styles for locomotives, but did my plates for HMS Diamond, great service.

The question has to be…what sort of nameplate. Brass or plastic etc.

is it required to look fabulous against your Mahogany boat stand, or just identify it?

Hi John

It may depend on the type of boat eg a millionaire's yacht would have to be quite 'posh'. Whilst, a working boat would probably be more subdued….having said that some canal barges can be very decorative….

Hi John – we make a lot of nameplates using a US manufactured plastic material called Rowmark especially made for laser engraving – it has largely replaced brass and silver nameplates on trophies .( Last order was for dates for 600 trophies ). Quite happy to make you a personalised one for free as long as you pay for registered postage from SA. (to guarantee you receive it) (might be able to organise someone taking it to UK but not sure when) .Rowmark comes in Silver & Brass which we have stock of – plain colors as well but we only have black which engraves white and red /white on hand. The metallic ones look pretty good if I say so myself. Made a Badger one for the steering wheel boss on my beach buggy jeep which if you PM me with email address can send a pic of .

Meant to also say could draw up one and send file to you – then you can ask SLEC or someone else in UK to cut/engrave one .
