Hi

I picked up a 32 inch vosper fire boat needing a restoration that is coming along nicely im now at the point of motor fiiting but do I go brushless ? if sowhat kv ? or just stay brushed ??

Brushed will obviously work but brushless is the way to go for good planing performance.

Something like an outrunner 3548/05 900kV would be suitable.

Andy. What batteries are you intending to use? If I may be so bold, 900Kv sounds a bit low for a 6 pack Nimh or 2s but would be suitable on 3s or 12V ??

I've used a very similar motor in a model just a little larger than this and would agree that 3S (11.1v) is the best size LiPo – or a 10-cell NiMH pack.

Hi Andy

A 3S Lipo would be lighter and deliver a better run time.

A brushless motor between 900 and 1100kv will give the boat a nice turn of speed, but not a race boat.

As for prop, a 40mm 2 blade or 37mm 3blade would be a good start.

I have 3s lipo packs also have 6s lipo packs that I have for my helis so 11.1v and 22.2v

also have few NI-MH PACKS but there only 9.6v ..
