      Hello everyone,

I’m helping my father-in-law sell his boat and would really appreciate some advice. Could anyone give me an idea of its potential value or let me know if it might still be worth anything?

Thank you all very much in advance for your help!IMG_9839IMG_9841IMG_9840IMG_9843IMG_9842IMG_9844IMG_9845IMG_9847IMG_9848IMG_9846IMG_9849

        Regards Ray

I know of a couple of Botany Bays, one was operated by P&O and one was operated by OCL, but I don’t know of a Maersk one, so I suspect it might be a freelance model rather than a model of a specific vessel, but I could be wrong.

I couldn’t say whether it has been scratch built or made from a kit, the fibre glass hull would indicate a kit but again I don’t know of one that fits the description.  It could have been freelance built on a bought hull.

Having said all that it is very cleanly built and is fitted out with a good speed controller, battery and motor, which I assume is in working condition.

Sadly the market for second hand models is struggling nowadays as newcomers into the hobby seem to be dwindling in numbers.  This would make a very nice beginner’s model to introduce them to the hobby and hopefully tempt them into building something themselves.

If it comes with the transmitter and everything works so the model is ready to go into the water you might be lucky to get around £150.00 to £200.00.  If things don’t work and it isn’t ready to go or doesn’t include the transmitter you might be more in the £100.00 to £150.00 range.  Difficult to say in today’s volatile market but that’s probably in about the right ball park.

Thank you both. Yes, it comes with a transmitter and was built from scratch by my father-in-law. He used to compete in RC model boat competitions and built boats himself. This one has never been used and has just been knocking around. I’ll price it around £200 and see what happens. He will be very happy with your kind remarks.

              Thank you again!
