What a perfect momento of your parents and even your Granddad. I'm not sure there is anything to be gained by repairing it, the memory is all in it anyway and it tells a story of its life as it is. It might benefit from a little stand though to really show it off.

Unfortunately my Dad went over 20 years ago and I fell out with my Mother, written out of will type falling out, around 10 years ago so I will not be seeing anything!

Interesting though I was bought a clockwork lorry when i was around three years old and I played with my Dad with it on the stone flagged pavement in the street.  The wheels were really poor aluminium castings and started to break under the hammering of the joints in the flags.  Eventually it became unusable.  My Dad gave it to me in my early 20s and it sat in a box for the next 40 years in pieces. Recently I found that there were some suppliers of spare parts for these models so, with a combination of them, some one off machining and a guy who reconditioned the clockwork motor for me, it is nearing the end of its restoration.  I left all paintwork as original but painted up the replacement parts by airbrushing an enamel that I mixed up to match the original.

In perfect original condition with the original perfect box I have seen these on Ebay going for anything around the 7, 8 or £900.00 mark. This is a bit ridiculous for something that was of pretty poor quality when manufactured and just goes to show how the "collectors" mess up the markets for the rest of us.

I wouldn't part with mine for ten times that!
