            Hi Bob

Not totally sure but I think it maybe Silver Demon, I think I saw the boat advertised a couple of years ago.

I think your new boat would look good with light blue roofs ??

            Regards Ray

Just another picture of the completed window framing

              Now for colour match challenge

Will need to do a few practice runs before jumping in with both feet though, when the frames are finalised and glued in place of course

              Cautious Bob as always

That is a really great result. Bob! It is looking very, very nice indeed!

At home we are, I am happy to report, pretty much sorted out above stairs, so I am now at long last busy getting my workshop unpacked and set up again; progress is a tad slowish, as I am reconfiguring it for optimal fit in the new, larger space I now have available, which includes installing more shelving and workbenches and also setting up a permanent spray booth for paint work. All this requires a certain amount of planning, a reasonably orderly approach and fairly frequent trips to the DIY store and to a certain Swedish flat pack purveyor, which all makes for slow going. A few more weeks should see me back to building, though …

Totally off-topic (sorry, Bob) but can you, as a Swede, settle something which is troubling many folk over here. That purveyor of flat-packs – is is generally pronounced with a short i as in "spit" or a long i as in "spice"? Never mind Trump or Brexit – this is serious stuff!

                      Dave,

No problem: the Swedish pronounciation is always with a short i as in "spit"; the k is hard; the e is semi-long, as the middle e in "there", while the a is short and open, like the u in "cut".

I've often lain awake at night wondering the same thing, Dave, so I'm glad Matthias has cleared it up😄 Over here, we ignorant colonials refer to it as eye-kea, but I've long suspected the "I" should be short.

Those windows look absolutley fab, Bob. You can't see the join. I like the Fablon covering too- might try that one day. I take it those were the two tinlets you used?

I liked the picture of the full sized James Silver yacht- that stern doesn't look all that bulbous to me and I wonder if Vic got it quite right. However, he was only working from some photos.

Got to admit it, I'm very surprised myself, how well the colour match has turned out!

When I first started the painting…..It was really awful and seemed a bad idea

Then suddenly……It all came to fruition……Much to my relief

I'm now ploughing on with confidence and really enjoying the exercise

Very good work Bob. Window frames look exactly right.

I would have painted them in a contrasting darker wood brown personally, but that's just me. I even liked them in white!!

And the mix you have there is just great. A slightly streaky effect may even do well to match the fake wood plastic on the cabin sides? A bit like the old scumble effect.

I'm pleased that the wishy washy pale oak veneer seems to have come good, thanks to the window frames being slightly darker

Bob. Yes I like the pale oak.

You do not appear to have balanced rudders….any reason why or is it just your penchant for complicated engineering (in the rudder dept. ??

I made the rudders by folding in the vice and doesn't lend itself to the balanced type

I am busy researching a Bridgewater Canal Steam Tug/Packet called Lymm, as you know I live in Lymm (my family has been here for more than 500 years) but I have never come across these boats before.

These boats were called 'Little Packets' and have turned out to be a fascinating subject to study.
