        Hello Paul

Still waiting for the Lettuce plants!

The gold letters that Jane kindly made, won't peel off

The cutter hasn't gone through the backing……Could she make another set, please, but slightly larger in size?

Now thinking about covering the hull with backing paper, just down to the waterline?

        Like it?…….Yep!…..Sure do, Capt!

          Bob

The gold letters should peel off from the backing paper that's why the backing paper hasn't been cut. But no problem doing a slightly larger set (how much larger?)

Do you still want the numbers and arrows for the motors? I'm sorry to say that I forgot to pass on your request and have only just remembered.

Not to rain on your parade but before applying backing paper to the entire hull it might be prudent to create a small test piece to see how it works when immersed in water.

            Hello Paul

Make the letters 50% larger, please

Still need four arrows for motor direction about 15mm long

How about two sets of PT letters for the chimney?…….Or what ever?

The backing paper will be ok with a few coats of paint and varnish……Just like I did with GE

            Thanks

Could a Cricut machine make window frames and hatch covers etc from 1mm card?

What a handy machine that would be

                Bob

A cricut machine will cut 300gsm thick card, tin foil or even thin balsa (although I have never used it for balsa) I have used it to make window frames by cutting and sticking three layers of card together.

The machine is also very good for things like RAF Roundels.

Your build is coming along very well, and I can assure everyone that it looks better in the flesh so to speak after seeing it this afternoon, and had a nice chat with Bob on his next stage of the build.

Nice Job my mate, though I don't comment much here, like most people follow your build with interest.

                  Duckie.

Hello Duckie……Welcome to the thread, you`ve been AWOL far too long!

Pleased that you liked the build this afternoon and thanks for the cabin vents, that you donated

Now that I `ve embarked on the deck and cabin covering and painting, it will be some time before we see the boat back in one piece again

Here we go boys!……A whiter shade of pale

The die is cast!…….Papered the hull with the lining paper…….With a coat of under pants…….Looking rather nice?

Bought a tin of white gloss today…….Only small tin and it cost £9.00!…….Needed a tin of cream too, but managed to control myself……..Because the missus was watching!

Going to create a creamy colour by mixing the gloss white with granular tea or coffee etc…….Good eh?

Here`s a few pix to be going on with……

                          Hello Captain Bob

Sorry I didn't mean to pass a question.

Jane has ordered some more gold foil which should arrive tomorrow so all being well the name, arrows and numbers can be cut tomorrow. Jane will also send you some transfer tape which will help you move the foil letters from the backing sheet onto the transom.

It would help if you could tell us the overall length of the Lady Joyce name plaque (from the L to the e) that will best fit your transom.

I don't think that the funnel will suit letters but if anything it should be BA.

                            Hello Paul

Lady Joyce measures 4.5 " at the moment, but I think 6" would stand out more?

The first set are not bad and they do peel off, so to save you ordering more material, I could use them afterall

Fitted the aerial mast and propped up the sliding door to see how it looked

Will also fit another rubbing strip on the hull, but not worked out yet, how to clamp it in place!

The backing paper has dried perfectly flat……I`m very pleased with the way it`s turned out, yesterday, it was full of bubbles etc and looked awful

Will it get around the corner at the top of the stairs? You might end up taking the window out wink

Nice to see you posting again

There are two strakes on the full size craft………So we've having the same

It's beginning to dawn on me, how bulky this boat is!…..But it's only 5'-0" long, so it'll get round the corner at the top of the stairs ok

Will need an assistant to get downstairs though…..In the Summer, it can live in the garage

                                                  Hello Sir Bob

I understand about the extra strake even though I have to admit to being a little confused at first as I was mistaking the deck edge for a strake. Its a good job that you are paying attention.

In the Summer, it can live in the garage. Never mind the garage if the boat were a little bigger you could live in it.

Good to hear that you will be sailing during the frostbite event

                                                    HI Bob

Thought you were further on with the build than you are! If you want some help down the stairs give me a shout.

Its a good job we are getting a launching a launching crane at the lake, these big models are hard to launch without the fear of taking a header with it.

My tugs are about 30lbs so the Lady Joyce will be at least that. OHhhh my poor back!!!!!

                                                      Hello Mark

The photographs don't show how far behind the model really is round the back!

We've got a long way to go yet……Probably a Spring time launch?

Thanks for your offer to help out, I will take you up on that, when the time comes!

Launching crane?…….I'll believe that when we see it!……..It will be very handy and might encourage more large boats to be built

                                                      All the best, Mark
