Whim, yes. I have seen all too many whims. And why not. i built mostly on a "whim"..

Bob has lots of whims….mention the ABEL drive shall we with all those motors and belts..thats a whim if ever I saw one, and what a fantastic whim..long may he continue.

looks like a great idea and design Paul, tell me given your location have you ever had dealings with Simon snorkel of Stockport

You design could be adapted to be used for fire fighting.

            Hi Ralph

Yes I have had dealings with Simon. On one particular site I had to devise an escape / recovery procedure for a high rise building involving the site tower crane and the local fire stations Simon lift.

Hi Paul Well what started as a mode of transport has now developed into a multi function piece of kit .

Now a work bench ,I can see you developing it into a test bench next .Seriously Paul what next

                Enjoying your build winkmichael

                  Hi Michael

The project is to develop a multi function unit to aid the less able transport, lifting & launching and lake side maintenance are all part of the design criteria.

The base unit can also be used by anglers to transport heavy kit, or gardeners as a motorised barrow.

The only thing that I haven't managed to do is include suspension in the drive unit assemblies, my current thought is to add anti-vibration mounts between the trolley body and load.

                    Has anyone else any suggestions?

Coil springs between the angle-drives and the body?

Just a thought. It seems that I know less than nothing about engineering or electronics these days……………………. "I've seen me and I'm depressed"

                          Dave

Due to the way the units are driven I cant introduce springs between the units and body, believe me I tried all sorts of ways.

                          Bob

Good idea, the tyres are pneumatic so it is possible to lower the pressure and have softer tyres

                            Hi Paul

Its not as though you are going rallying with the transporter, is suspention nessicary??? i would have thought that with the lift on the trolly on one side when you swing the davit for launch and retrival you need solid mountings to allow for the weight transfer, posibley brace legs like on a crane

                            Mark

Hi Paul , You could always use the same method of suspenstion used on the old BR MK1 & MK2 railway carrages , They used 4 big rubber spacers between the carrage body and the bogie . On your transporter you could use 4 larger versions of the exhaust mounts they used to use on cars in the 70,s , They are a 50mm dia X 20mm thick slab of rubber with 2 metal plates with M12 studs bonded on each end .

                              Best Regards Daveyes

                                Hi Mark & Dave

You have both given me cause for considerable thought and taking in some of Colin & Daves earlier comments I have re-visited the design and made some fundamental changes.

The size of the wheels have been increased to allow for greater traction, stability and a smoother ride.

                                increased wheel size.jpg

Suspension is taken care of by introducing anti-vibration mounts between the trolley body and the load.

                                s-l140.jpg

M6 thread and solid rubber body.

Unfortunately these changes mean the current body is essentially scrap but if a jobs worth doing……….

Hi Paul, its the same method as used by BMW on their bikes to cushion the battery mounting box, but much bigger, the design is coming along great.

Thanks for the vote of confidence… unfortunately the re-design means that it wont be completed in time for Haydock.

Hi Paul, that's a shame it would have made a great exhibit at the show.

Are you and Bob doing the show together? if you are, I like the sketch with that Previn guy.

I'm hoping to get to the show myself and meet you both in the flesh…….so to speak.

Siadwell will be ready for Haydock……………… 2016 lol.

                                        Hi Ralph

Hopefully I will have a 'work in progress' example of the trolley to show and discuss.

Yes Bob and I will be doing the show together ……live and unscripted

As a TV celebrity Bob will have his usual entourage of writers, hairdressers, makeup and yes-men so you might have to fight your way through the throng.

I am dreading the Friday set-up day as there will be the usual problem of getting his enormous trailer/motorhome into the ground.

                                        Paul
