      Hello Paul

          How about pivoting outrigger supports?

          To counteract the tipping over?

            Grasshopper

It doesn't need outriggers or jacking supports as it wont tip over……providing the maximum load or crane radius are not exceeded.

You have to have faith and believe Grasshopper

Show me how it looks, with Lady Joyce swung out and in a position to be lowered into the briny?

Tell me what the total launching/recovery weight is and I will show you.(don't guess as it MUST be accurate)

I can`t weigh it at the moment, as it`s still in the car

From memory, is was 35 lb

Joyce can easily lift her end up…….When need be

                      35lb ……are you sure?

When I designed it the estimated fully loaded weight was in the region of 70lb.

We've have had this conversation before.

For some reason, you thought, 35lb of lead was necessary

There is no ballast in the hull…..It's almost a Hovercraft!

                          Ah yes Grasshopper

I remember the conversation about the waterline and as I recall you prefer your boat to ride high in the water.

Here are the images that you requested.

                          trolley launching.jpg

The davit is at full height extension to clear the top of the boat, the Jib swl is 60kg and in this configuration the maximum recovery load is 42kg……kudos to anyone who can tell us why the recovery weight is more important than the launching weight (and its not due to water leaking into the bilges)

Having rotated the ship thru 180 deg……Front view is still showing?…..Get the digital Tippex out!

The balance still looks a bit airy to me……But it can easily be corrected

Is the extra load caused by the suction effect?

You should know better than that.

The lifting rig turns in relation to the position of the jib so that the mass of the load remains constant to the base, as such the bow will show all the way through the lift.

I am curious just how can the balance 'look' airy? all of the calculations have been done and checked.

Yes its due to the suction effect Grasshopper has learnt a valuable lesson.

Is the Davit drawn correct in both your views?

                                  Yes

Don't forget that this is a 3 dimensional object and it is difficult to achieve a 3 dimensional effect on a 2 dimensional drawing but if you compare the side elevation you should get the idea.

                                  vgc trolley and davit.jpg

The long explanation is that the jib is mounted on the front offside of the trolley and in the transport or rest position the jib is at a reflex angle to the front view…i.e. part of the angled part of the davit looks thinner.

Yes I know that in the side elevation drawing the example boat is the wrong way around ……this shows how versatile the trolley is.

                                      Hello Bob

Sorry but I'm not providing a plan view or any detailed information until Dehns finish the paperwork.

Yes I am building this machine, the body is constructed and painted and the engineering bits are starting to arrive.

It doesn't need a second machine for unloading as it is designed to easily strip down for transportation and storage.

I am intrigued by your comment that the lifting rig turns in position, relative to the jib. Does that mean that the boat stays on the same heading as the jib swings round? If that is the case I can't see how the bow or stern of the boat can clear the upright section of the crane as the length of the jib does not seem long enough to allow that.

Well at least the behemoth that is Lady Joyce looks too big anyhoo. Sorry, doubting Kev will go back to lurking again.
