The prototype unit will be ready for Haydock so the drawings and photos will be popping up between now and then.

      Ashley

The trolley and its accessories will all simply break down into their component parts for ease of storage and transport.

        trolley davit.jpg

A basic davit design but it does the job, the entire davit and its mechanics can be added to the trolley when needed.

My latest grandson was born a few days ago with a problem of an underdeveloped lung he then contracted meningitis B and has been on strong antibiotics ever since. Thankfully he is now over the worst but still faces another couple of weeks in hospital.

I usually design a boat to celebrate the birth of a grandchild but in this case I am going to name the new trolley after him, small and strong it packs a punch and can shoulder a heavy load.

The trolley has been christened Jake and I am back on the build.

Thanks for that news, Paul. We can all breathe again. I have to confess that masking and spraying a boat isn't easy with all your fingers crossed.

If you're using the all-wheel steer we discussed then you'll need a relay switcher. Get in touch as and when – I've got all the bits.

              Hello Dave

Thank you, it has been a very traumatic few days especially for my son, Philip and his wife, they live near Oxford so are a little isolated from the rest of the family. The hospital provided them with a family room so at least Philip wasn't sleeping on a chair.

I will be using the steering system that we discussed but after a conversation with the servo manufactures tech dept I have replaced the servos with hi torque, low RPM geared motors. [12v 0.06a 4rpm]

When the kit arrives I will do the amp load tests and come back to you for expert input.

First great to hear your problem seems to have subsided,. I am ever amazed at how you can go from a boat to a electrified trolley with what appears consummate ease

Great to have friends with skills required to help

Hope baby continues to make progress and you continue to get this programme finished for Haydock winkMichael

                    Hello Michael

My life does seem to stagger from one medical upset to the next….a big thank you is due to the NHS.

For consummate ease imagine a duck on the water……all calm on the surface and paddling like mad underneath.

It will make its debut at Haydock even if I have to push the thing all the way from Lymm

                    Hello Colin

It was very much touch and go for a while but the little man is a real fighter and hopefully he has beaten it.

Hi Paul , Great news your grandson is over the worst and hope he as a speedy recovery. It will be great to see the transporter at Haydock , i am interested in the right angle drives they look like they have a drill chuck on the end is this correct , and how many wheels will be powered.

                      Best Regards Dave

                          Hi Dave and Ralph

Thank you both for the kind words, the little man is still fighting but is a lot better than he was a few days ago, its a pity that my son lives so far away but he had to move to Oxford with his job.

Dave: the right angled drives are 3/8th keyless chuck angled drill attachments, I came across a load of them in a reduced bin at Aldi and came up with the idea of the trolley there and then. All of the wheels will steer and all will be powered.

Why six wheels?………To spread the load and achieve maximum traction. my fisherman son in law already has plans to carry his heavy fishing gear on one.

                            Update

The body is built and being sprayed (blue)

Hopefully the pillow bearings arrive tomorrow so that I can start fitting the mechanical bits.

                            Paul

For those who don't know a pillow bearing looks like this

                            1_0x0.jpg

The angled drive units are these (without the handle) the pillow bearing connects the drive unit to the body and fits over the upright steel shaft that you can see on the angled drive.

I`m a little curious regarding the six motor drives

Are you controlling them in groups etc?

How many ESC are you using?

                                  How will the Tranny work?

                                  Etc……….?

Will you show Lady Joyce on your transporter, please……To get a better idea of proportions

                                    Hi Dave

I tested one drive unit to destruction and I'm confident that they will stand up to normal use, it helps having six as the load is spread a lot further.

                                    Hello Bob

The drives will be controlled in banks of three i.e. one controller for each side, in this way the trolley can have tracks added for really boggy ground and still steer.

                                    2 speed controllers.

Who said anything about using RC

                                                      Bob

Why do you think that a 5ft boat is to bulky for the trolley.

The trolley has a large mass and a wide footprint and has been designed to carry and launch a six foot model.

It will easily carry Lady Joyce at Haydock [and crane it into the pool]
