A bit more progress made on the build ,not as much as i would like as we’re still in the early stages of a house move so time is a bit limited, but happy with the work done so far.
Me , being retired gives me time to do mundane things like dusting models and the better half says she is not game to do it in case she busts something
Hi Jeff my next project I would like to do is a puffer or a small coastal trader. If anyone has any plans they would be prepared to share, sell me or know where i can gets some let me know as over here plans are like hens teeth
Your right Ashley there are a lot of home grown subjects to base a model on . I’ve decided my next project will be a ex navy steam tug wattle. She was built just prior to the second world war and decommissioned in 1969 since then she has been a working museum piece based out of Port Melbourne. The picture shows her as she is now I will model her as she was before decommissioning. Should make a interesting build .If anyone would like to follow the build I could do another building blog when I start it(about a months time .) Size wise she will be 40 inches by 8 inches so a nice size for lots of detail, I’ve also found a Australian shop that specialises in marine modelling “Float a Boat” based out of Victoria and prices are really affordable . So any aussie modellers on here give their Web site a look.
Getting close to finishing ,just a few odds and ends plus fitting the RC equipment. It’s been a very enjoyable build and although not perfect by a long degree I reasonably pleased with the end result. I also learnt a lot of valuable lessons along the way which will stand me in good stead on my next build.
Regards to all the that followed the build your interest is much appreciated.
Thank you Richard I’ve valued your input over the last few months of the build . I’m thinking of submitting a photo of it to the magazines readers boats section when it’s completely finished.
My better half said the same, I’ve got a 5ft.6″ model of the RAN Patrol boat “freemantle” on the list of future builds that would look great on the water so I might leave this one as a display model only
Well to all intense and purpose the model is finished(is a model ever finished?) and on the display shelf,. Thanks to everyone for following the blog and all your helpful hints as regarding the build.
My new project the mighty tug Wattle is the subject of my next build blog
