Hi. Ray, the Cambria drawings are by Le. Zouch drawn in 1962 and redrawn 1972 at the end of her working life.

All the dimensions are full size, although drawn at 1/24th. scale with no model construction shown, so I am using the methods used for building Veronica.

      Regards.

      Eddie.

        Hi all,

There is, among other things, Kim Holland's contribution to the central lead bulb keel

          Hi,

I slowly continue to produce more details, yesterday I finished the anchor for G. Cat.(Copper wire 3mm dia)img_1611.jpg

            Hi Tom,

You are producing a good looking anchor , only a few weeks before we start AMBO racing on 7th April, I must get Veronica and Gertrude out of hibernation and see if maintenance is required 😊 keep us posted with Gusty's progress, I'm hoping to meet Eddie at some stage this summer with his new barge.

Best wishes from a very windy UK

            Ray

Hi. Tom and Ray, yes that anchor is looking good, I am looking forward to seeing you Ray at some of the AMBO meetings this year, I will have to pass on the first one as I am boiler testing that weekend, but I have put all the meeting dates in my friends diary here at Broadstairs so that I only have a one way trip in any one day to a meeting.

              Regards to you both.

              Eddie.

                Hi Gents,

we have to wait here for the season. We still have winter here. It rains here in the valley, but snow falls on the hills around Roznov.

Only after the first of April the local "Wallachian Museum in Nature "opens its gates

                https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wallachian_Open_Air_Museum

The water trench feeds the wheels of the old water mill, the water saw and the iron mill.then the water flows through the park and feeds a small pond where I can run my models. So I have to wait..

I install servos, engine in Gusty Cat. and considering the main sheet and vangs. I have a little staysail on the model, so I will try balancing on the first voyage. I'd like to put a large staysail on the model, but I'm not sure how to proper lead the sheets.
They should allow the sail to be dragged into the leeward when tacking.

                Greetings

                Tom

                  Hi Tom,

The best way of controlling the stay sail is a line across the Cross trees or spreaders to let the sail move across when you tack.

                  Eddie,

What sort of boilers are you testing ? My Tich is somewhere in the workshop built it when I was at school. My family were all model engineers, I may go back to it I have a Boxhill to complete.

                  Regards Ray

                    Hi Ray,

staysail sheets via spreaders I will have for my little staysail , the big staysail has its clew eye far below crosstrees – about half the length of the forestay.Kim Holland has staysail sheets led to the rear, almost to Main Horse.

The servo for staysail sheets I have but in fore hatch… I might think about the eye on the fore shroud…

Hi. Ray, it's boiler testing for our steam club, mainly 4" traction engines and a couple of small 6". It will be my last year with steam, they are now too heavy for me.

Well the first round of AMBO sailing barge racing commences at Bluewater Shopping Centre on Sunday 7th, some of the skippers  seen here testing the water and having some practice last Sunday, Dave Brookes, Dave Watts (AKA Mastman) and John.

I'm dusting off Veronica & Gertrude for some practice tomorrow

Hi. Ray, the water looks calmer there than at Wicksteed today, quite breezy with some strong gusts, but Susie May coped quite well only shipping a small amount of water, we will be sailing again tomorrow weather permitting.

Susie May looks great in the breeze ,we didn't have much breeze yesterday, but systems checked all working on both barges. Whistling for a wind next Sunday 😁

Cambria is on hold at the moment, I have got to finish my grandsons boat by the Easter break, I'm nearly there, just one more hatch to finish and then varnish the deck, fit the electrics and she's ready to go.

Also the James P. Woods is taking my building time, I need a boat for when the wind is too strong for sail.

The frame is complete for Cambria ready for planking and I have started to make the deck fittings, I would like to have them working, the anchor winch is complete and works a treat.

                                      Regards.

                                        Hi,

hi, as I can see, you started a new season at a full throttle. Wishing full success !!

I am gradually completing my "tomcat". I already have a motor attached. I still have to install ESC, receiver and install sheets and vangs. Plus, I have to wait until the water is back in the pond in the park.

I wonder how the model will be longitudinally balanced. I have only a little jib yet, but I'm ready to use
also bigger stay sail, with semaphore jib sheeter .

On Capricorn, I removed a small stay sail , leaving only a big jib that has a system similar to semaphore jib to control the  jib sheets.  Both system drag the sail into the leeward when tacking .

Today and rest of week wet and around 5 deg. Have not sailed Susie May against other TSBs. yet, so not sure of her performance.

                                                    Hi Ray,

it is Great !!! I can't even imagine as many models of barges on the water at once !!!

I wait in vain for the water in the pond in the park.

Little water in the Becva river here,so the water does not flow to the pond. (No rains ,No water..)

so far, I am only finishing small details.still stretch the sheets of the main sail and staysail, and complete the electrical installation. I still don't have all the parts, I had to buy a new receiver and ESC

                                                    Something went wrong during testing,

                                                    Greetings

                                                    Tom

Hi. Ray, have been having a practice sail at Hearne Bay.

Good sailing there, but must get crowded when racing.

                                                      Regards.

                                                      Eddie.
