Hi. Andy, Ray, thank you both for your kind comments, the proof of the pudding will be in the first sail!

I now have the leaboards fitted and connected to the winches, they work fine over the side of the table, will have to see how they perform when they get a bit of water pressure on them, may have to time the operation to when she is upright and sailing straight.

Andy Mastman also does a ducks foot keel the same that Ray made.

      Regards Eddie.

          Hi All,

As far as leeboards are concerned, I contacted Mr. Ivor Bittle a few years ago, here I put his note. In addition, I recommend reading the materials on building TS barge models on the site

          https://www.ivorbittle.com/

          Ivor´ note:

You ask where to put the fin. I have come to the conclusion that a

function of the leeboards that I had not noticed is to balance the

barge, that is to make the barge sail with weather helm, that is to

turn gently to windward when the rudder is on centre. This is possible

because the lee board exerts a significant force and that force can be

moved relative to the hull by raising or lowering the lee board. This

tells us where the fin should be placed. It is adequate to fit the fin

so that the centre of area of the fin is vertically in line with the

centre of area of the lee board when the lee board is at say 45

degrees. I explained this in Article 2.12 on my website.

          greetings

          Tom

Exactly. I had a Registered parcel sent to the wrong office this week. They at least paid me back for the costs of the postage pretty immediately as my recipient didn't get it by 1 pm the next day.

I got a large canvas sack of speedboat books from US mail a couple of weeks ago in 4 days!

Hi. Tom, that is looking good, I have to fit the mizzen to my barge yet, but it is finished and ready to fit.

I have been to the International Model Boat Show at Warwick this weekend, I was able to talk to both Peter Simmonds and Richard Chesney about TSBs all weekend, Have also ordered the drawings for Cambria a very large boat, 98 feet long and capable of carrying 150 tons of cargo in full size, and I believe was the last barge to operate commercially and without an engine.

                      Regards.

                      Eddie.

Hi. Tom and Ray, I think I have enough to keep me going for a while, I may have to build a small barge for my friend at Broadstairs, she fell in love with Veronica and wanted to take it home.

I will bear your suggestion in mind when I get to Camria Ray, photos are always good for the details.

                            Regards to you both.

                              Hi,

Slowly I continue with other work -main mast rigging. m also starting to make the missing pulleys. Some pulleys I still have from RBmodels, I miss primarily pulleys for brails and main sheet – big double block  mainly.

Winter is here – with first snowfall…. end of very long Summer weather …

I put next photos to album here and to my " Rajce",

                              Greetings

Hi. Tom, and Ray, my crew are getting bored! although the sails are set the mizzen still needs rigging and the hatches have to be finished, the reason is the pond yacht below, it has got to be finished by the end of January next year, the sails have to be made, the deck planked and all to be varnished and then sea trialled.

Hi. Tom, thank you, your barge is looking good, I take it that it is Lady Daphne? and all the rigging is as full size?

I like the dog he looks ready to go.

We are able to sail here through the winter, even if it is in the coffee shop! We have had one day with ice on the pond so far, and it is mostly wet and mild, I hope tomorrow will be fine and dry.

                                                  Keep up the good work.

                                                    Hi Eddie,

as I wrote some months ago .. basicaly it is Lady Daphne in 1:28 scale. nearly 1 meter long,

I had some troubles with hull making, , so at the end I decided to make some modification with superstructures ( holds),then with rigging .. At the end I decided to refurbish original to model in 1:24 scale.more or less scale unification of both my barge models. As far as the rigging is concerned, I have made the masts longer but meet the conditions of the AMBO races for 1:24 scale. . Gusty .Cat main mast is nearly 1 meter long .

due to my "rocky conditions" in my workshop I did not have the opportunity to strictly keep the design of all the details and therefore I chose this for me the easier way .. making semi.scale model.

still have concerns about the longitudinal balance of the model. On Capricorn I had to increase the jibsail to sail with the wind. "Tomcat" does not have a bowsprit, so I'm waiting for a bigger balancing problem. I decided to reduce the mizzen sail if necessary, or to put a Bermuda style sail there.

                                                    Greetings

                                                    Tom

                                                      Hi Eddie,

As your progressing so fast, here are some nice details on one of Peter Simmonds barges oars, quant and ladder, which at the time it was taken Easter 2015 was being sold to the skipper of the full size Cambria.
