      Hi All

I was ask about replacing the Graupner speed 600's in a two engine boat with a lighter brushless setup.

The boat is stern heavy with 5000mah Metal NiCad in the stern.

This is the only space for the battery.

As the Graupners are about the 19000 rpm and are about 192 grams each.

The replacement Graupner motor is about $70 AU each and I can only get one.

I have moved some of the other electrical stuff forward, but, I am trying to not add more weight.

So plan A is two D3530/8 1700kv brushless motors (74 grams each) 430watts from Banggood($26.91 each), a Zippy Compact 3S 3300MAH 60C(288 grams) for Hobbyking and a pair of car ESC 45 Amp (69grams).

What is your guys ideas, please??

Better VFM than the Graupner option, Harry. Which Speed 600 is it, by the way? There were several different types.

            Hi Dave

It is the 7.2 volt 18200 rpm one, but, the only one I can get is 12 volt.

            Thanks for the PM.

            Still hunting around there.

            Moving close to Ashley !!!!!!

Harry. You don't want to be that close!

One project for this year is replacing my MFA 800`s with brushless so I can run on 9.6 or even 7.2V satisfactorily (Fantome, aircraft carrier) and also replace the 555`s in the T42 destroyer with brushless, again so I can run on 9 or 7 v packs.

                This one? **LINK**

                £16 is a bit less than A$70.

                  Hi Ashley

I think I am about the right distance!!

If ewe are going brushless, go in to Lipo's(far longer run time).

I have a balance charger which does all batteries and ewe can limit the charge rate with auto stop on full charge.

One of our club members has a Fantome on twin G60 brushless, twin 6S Lipo's and 2 blade 50mm props.

He changed from the 3 blade 60mm props after the first run (20 meters) when he barrel roll it !!

On the second test the rudders bend(brass) and new stainless steel ones with 5mm shafts.

It is still a dam very fast beast with on board camera.

                    Hi Dave

That's the beast, but, 16 pound and post to Tassie is totally nuts!!

                    Chinese post to Tassie free!!

England to Aussie is about the price of the motor !!!

I installed the D3530/8 1700kv motor in the Sea Commander today, will change the prop to a 2 blade 32mm also have a 35mm 3blade on hand.

I think it go like a snail, but, I will see.

No it's not. Royal Mail Standard International Delivery (5-7 working days) is £5.60. Try it yourself (Small parcel; 250gms; Value £20; Not signed for). For me to buy it from Howes delivered in the UK would cost £2.90 for the cheapest mail.

                        Hi Dave

I keep Royal Mail in mind as some of the others are too pricey !!

                          Harry

We once sent a single 755 motor to a university in Trinidad. They insisted on us using an international courier rather than Royal Mail, It cost them £85 carriage for a £15 motor. Daft beggars.
I think that export freight costs for all Chinese businesses is 100% state-subsidised.

                            Hi All

The Sea Commander gave a better turn of speed than I thought !!!

Up on the plane, but, with a bit of nose bounce into the waves as I installed a 3300 mah battery and not the 5800 mah.

In returning to shore the motor stopped and on removing the cabin, SMOKE!!!

Telemetry temp reading 64 degrees C.

A restart more smoke and very loud bearing noise!!!

                            A claim to Banggood.

                            Back to the D3548/4 1100kv with a 2 blade 40mm prop and the 5800mah 3S Lipo.

                            Harry
