            Very eye catching, Paul

But is there any logic to the pattern?

Will it fool a modern day radar system?

              Hi Bob

Its Red Leader in its dazzle paint job.

This is what Red Leader looked like before I got carried away.

                    HI Chris

Causing a headache is closer to the truth than you might realise.

Dazzle was used extensively during WW1 and later became a artdeco artform, But contrary to popular belief Dazzle wasn't intended to camouflage the ships but in actual fact Dazzle was intended to simply confuse the enemy by reducing the chances of accurate range finding.

                        Hi Paul
Done this once and lost it!!1
                        Out of practice obviously!!

I have been planning a big anniversary for some while so slightly distracted.

No progress over the winter due to freezing cold shed and cost of heating it, even though it has 4" of insulation.

I couldn't make my mind up on colour so in the end sprayed it 4 times until I got to Blue. It reminds me of the old Sanderson Marine of Reedham colour so it will do me.

The windows are in although I keep getting reminded that the curtains are still in an envelope. The screen needs glazing and the rope cleats are yet to fit. so Will finish it by end of May.

Thanks for reminding me you are there!!!

                          Hi John

Looking very good and I do like the detailing inside the cockpit, the overall colour scheme is perfect for a period cruiser.

I like the idea of curtains as it raises the option of a full internal fit out which is something that I have never bothered with but does have some very interesting posabilities.

                              Hi John

Looking great and I do like the copper canopy supports, please don't ditch the curtains as I am really looking forward to seeing the boat fitted out with bunks, shower/toilet and a little galley.

Also keen to see how the Ellie version works with twin motors, which brings us on to the big issue of when will you be sailing it?

It must be the reflection on the windows Paul stoping you seeing all the fitted out cabins!!! I had better get those curtains up!!!!

My problem is finding somewhere decent that I am happy launching but I will definitely sail her at least the once to prove it is working.

Having somewhere safe to sail is a real problem especially if you live miles from a suitable boating lake, I live near the Bridgewater Canal which, for model sailing, is a double edged sword. It is handy and I'm usually all alone but things can get a little frantic when a full size boat comes along, or worse still the model sinks and becomes very difficult to recover from the submerged weeds and old prams.

Sorry to interrupt, Doc, but don't forget that the Sea Spray version I left with you has twin [Speed 600 Eco] motors. You could always throw that into the oggin and see for yourself. IMHO it went OK but I reckon it needed more than 7.2v.

I would imagine that it will perform pretty much the same as Sea Spray, Paul, although it will look different.

I reckon Sea Spray needs 9.6v to get it up and running properly with those motors. Either that or fit some of Harrikin's maniac brushless inrunners! surprise

I will give the canals a go as at this time of year it should be fairly quiet so I just need to choose my spot.

Somewhere with a winding hole may be best!

I will get the maps out.

The lake at Runcorn is a very pleasant place to sail and the resident club have worked hard to maintain and improve the facility. It also benefits from having easily accessed car parking only a half bricks throw from the water.

If you fancy a day out there is another very nice lake right on the seafront at New Brighton , this water is easier for launching and recovery as it has built up sides and is more like a massive paddling pool than a traditional pond.

                                                Just to update Paul.

I will be a little late running Ellie May as I slipped while getting off our Norfolk Broads Cruiser with the dogs and broke 2 or 3 ribs. Stupidity not obeying the rule "One hand for the boat and one for the load"

I had a dog, in a life jacket, in each hand and as I bent to drop them on the shore my foot went from under me as my left foot was in mid air. Nothing broke my fall as my rib cage crashed on to the gunnels. We had been on board nearly 4 hours!!!! Ouch! or words to that affect.

Luckily my car is automatic with big comfy seats so was able to drive home the next morning minimum pain.
