It's not supposed to be weathering……I just like the idea of having a brass model

Launch date not even in sight at the moment…….Don't want to be disappointed yet!

Keep up the good work with your model boat production line!

Thanks for the kind comment Bob,

I'm in a bit of a lull at the min re boat building being about half way through a plane that I need complete for June 22nd.

then I've got an own design fast patrol boat and in the back of my head a paddler capable of making a 15 mile journey hopefully non stop at a good walking pace

                              Hello Tony

There is progress, but not much!

I've been struggling with the life boat and davits and minute pulley blocks…..Which are so small and delicate, they are a real pain to get right

Not much to do now……Just the mast and scratchings

Would you believe it, the motor is refusing to run for some reason……That's the last straw!

                              Bob

                                      Thank you Larry and others,

It was immediately apparent from the onset, that more ballast was required. The paddles barely touched the water!

Due to the severe wind at times, we didn't continue the trials, a bath test will soon sort it out

It was obvious that paddle boats are not stable in choppy waters, due to the see saw effect

The club members really believed that the model was made of brass, until I confessed

Despite the wretched weather and poor turnout, we enjoyed our day!

                                      Photos to follow

Have a gander at some of the pics and the vids on page two

                                          Hello Phil

You have a fast moving website there, with all those pictures taken recently?

I like the big Handley Page model very much…….Magazine fodder no doubt?

I think we all had a bad day everywhere today, the wind has been frightful at times

I used to do a lot of RC model flying……..in the 80`s mainly

My best model was a 1/4 scale Piper Cub with 20cc Four stroke. it was so docile and realistic.

Had to pack up the flying game, having lost the flying field to developers!

                                          Keep in touch, Phil

The bath test…….Should have done it before now!

Looks like I`ll need about 4lb of ballast, just forward of midships!

And as low as possible!…….It`s surprising how unstable the model is…….. about the longitudinal axis!

Might have to fit a keel type ballast, in order to be able to fiddle about?

It would be nice if a few Glasgow builders could make a few comments relative to the subject?

                                                  Model looks excellent, Bob.

Can't ever remember getting it right at the first outing. Maybe thats why I go on my own when its quiet for a trial run.

After seeing this, it may be necessary to adjust the ballast on mine, when I get around to the electric conversion.

Looking forward to seeing more photographs.

                                                    Thanks chaps

                                                    I have a cunning plan!………Not another?………Yep!….Sure have?

Going to make a box, or a plastic tube……to be bolted underneath, with torpedo ends

Down below will make the model appear mysteriously steady in the water!………….Aka…..GE

Then fill it with scrap lead….ie…..Fully adjustabell!

                                                    How does that grab one?

Bob. I dislike seeing "stuff" being bolted on to the bottom of ships (unless they have sails on).

How about weighing out however much it is you need and making some thick steel bilge keels? that would give you weight, and also stop some of that rolling.

In fact, bilge keels of generous dimensions should be mandatory on paddlers one would have thought?
