      Hi All,

I think we will call her finished now, maiden voyage Saturday if it’s not too windy 🙂

Richard the rest of the engine & boiler are scratch built.

Hi Ray, I thought you were going to use a boom on the jib? Glad you’re not though as I didn’t intend to and glad that it will work without. Does it self adjust?

        No progress from me, hic!

        Chris

Edit: I can see from zooming in, that indeed it does, that will do me.

          Hi All,

Lysander made her first voyage at our club lake at Bluewater Kent under grey skies and a light breeze so very cold hands time !! I hadn’t bothered with the bath test, she was a little nose down but I imagine the fullsize being not much bigger that a dinghy, I put some ballast in the cockpit to simulate the crew, all good she only has a small rig, the DF keel is spot on and she sails well, but never going to be a racer, so Thanks again to Tim for his sails, much admired by my clubmates 🙂

Plan in the mag at so time next year I hope.

          Regards Ray

A perfect shot though, she looks superb on a calm pond.  What scale it it Ray?

                  Hi Richard,

Not a recognised scale really 1 3/8″  (35mm) to the foot , the best size for the drawing to be A1 size 🙂

                  Regards Ray

Tricky,  that works out at just less than 1/9th!  There has to be a little bit of poetic license though, allowing for the fact that we are all quite different heights so, at the end of the day, best to go by what looks right.  I usually think that doors set the scale more than most things.

If you can find anything amongst the ModelU range they will print off any figure to any scale you want so there might be possibilities there.  Expensive but you only need one or two.

                        Hi All,

Thanks for those suggestions, they are good ones  🙂

There are quite a few Toyfairs here in Maidstone with some odd scale Action men dolls like my workboat helm,

                        Happy New Year 🙂

                        Regards Ray

                          Hi Ray,

Lovely job. Looks very sedate on the two pictures on the water.

Best wishes to all for 2025.

                          Jim.

I am looking forward to the plans being in the magazine.

The Lysander Owners Association still have full size plans available for the 17ft boat and there are a few members with full sized boats sailing. The members range from the Orkneys to Germany but mainly Come from the south coast.

Have a look atbtheir web site.

Many thanks for this Adrian, I have had a look at the website. Bilge keels clearly made a lot of difference to cabin space. I used to have a Jaguar 21 with a lifting keel and it was pretty cosy inside for two to say the least! Great little boats for pottering about and having fun.

                                Thanks Adrian,

I have posted on the associations website, my dad bought the drawings from Percy in 1963, but never built one, although he did build a couple of other plywood boats & fitted out a Colvic motor sailor. This isn’t my first Lysander model I built a 1/4 scale model 40 years ago but never finished it , I still have it in my loft, I too like Colin owned a Jaguar 21 which I repaired after it was sunk in the 1987 gale on the river Medway !!

A great little boat, I may have to make a model of the Jaguar 21 , after the Spring 25 I’m working on at the moment 🙂

                                Best Regards   Ray
