Increasing model top speed

Just to clarify, I have a 12V 5Ah NiMH battery installed in the model, as per my original post.

The 2.5:1 geared MFA motors originally installed in the model gave 6300 RPM on 12V, according to a supplier's website. Since I would like the model to be about 50% faster than it was with these motors, would the 12000 RPM of the 775s not give a useful extra margin of performance over the old setup in order to achieve the desired speed? As suggested, I could fit a lower voltage battery (or use less throttle) if the speed is too great at maximum throttle on 12V.

Hello Everyone.

I finally managed to sail my Drumbeat of Devon which is under renovation, having installed twin 775 12V motors and with a new 12V 5Ah battery.

I was very happy with the extra performance – a bit over scale speed at full throttle.

I managed to get 15 minutes out of the battery by only using full throttle sparingly. I'm planning to install a second battery through an Action Electronics P103 Parallel Power Board for extra run time.
