I purchased the above as a beginner model although i am experienced in the more complicated plastic models.

i have now learnt that Billings instructions are basic at best and i want to convert it to RC just to complicate matters

Does anyone know of any specific guides or tutorials that would help me.

      Many thanks in advance.

          Hi Martin,

If you google your RN Lifeboat 101, there is a nice film of the RC version on YouTube with twin motors, bit like watch making!!

          Regards Ray

There don't seem to be any online reviews of the kit or r/c conversions but it can and has been done successfully.

There are a lot of online images of the completed model if you search on Billings Waveney Kit which should help quite a bit as it isn't a very complex model.

            Good luck with it!

            Colin

I forgot to say the film is time-lapse with the stages of the build from the beginning in the box to on the water

              Regards Ray

                  Hi Martin ,
presume you mean the small version – there is a larger one as well !
Two of the little flat motors – (not the 140 type) provide enough
power – or two of the type that power servos . You can obtain a twin
motor esc type setup from the component shop – only draws about
2 amps so a receiver type battery pack would be enough.
Running parts are provided in the kit – good enough but personally
would fit oiling tubes to the shafts. with such low power you will
only need a piece of tubing to connect the motors
If you go into the MB Mayhem site and search for Billings 101 Lifeboat
there are a lot of build threads you can run through for more tips

                    Thanks redpmg

                    found the post, really helpful.

is the small on. Will put some photos up of the build, if it works!

                    thanks again
