      Dear all

We all have a workspace into which we retreat to create our models so lets share views of our workshops.

I will post my photos later.

Paul. Great idea. Once I tidy up and strategically place a few choice models on the bench, remove any non-politically correct or sexist calendars , get the wife to hoover up the wood shavings and add a few MB magazines on the side, I will take a picture.   Ash.

            Good morning Ashley and Neil

Just like you I decided to spring clean the workshop before I took any photos and it was a good excuse to have a proper clear out so I spent most of the day on it, I polished the bench mounted power tools and sprayed them with WD40, hovered the dead files out of the strip lights and even cleaned the windows. Santa’s workshop could not have glittered any brighter.

I got the camera set up for the ultimate photo that included the bench, most of the bigger tools and the current model.

Then I tripped over my own feet, caught the tripod and the camera came crashing down onto the concrete floor….you would not believe how many small bits there are in a camera.

So the camera has been boxed up and sent back to cannon for repair and I feel such a fool by posting this thread and then being unable to put my photos in it…..

I got the idea from the Military Modelling site and some of their workspaces are very well kitted out there is even a view into Vinnies inner sanctum.

                                Hello Len

                                Don’t be so pessimistic.

We are all bright enough to have adequate security to protect our precious tools and I don’t know about where you live but up here in the footballer belt in Cheshire nocturnal visitors don’t wait to see what you have before trying to pay a visit they just arrive without warning.

                                  I only have a shed, albeit block-built..sniff sniff…no fancy carpets or heating…sniff sniff..(but a nice BIG bandsaw)

To be honest most of my boatbuilding is of the “workmate” kind..in the garden, although Shorty was mostly built on the dining room table (!) . Hence my modus operandi…different and simple.

The boats that live in the shed are…. top l-r…. Berengar`s german flying boat, HMS Argus (the stripy thing), HMS Jersey – in front of that a “bath” plastic Titanic, a purchase of the “had-to-have-it” kind made at the seaside….next row…Titanic, HMS Glorious, Turbinia part built loafing forlorn behind..Bottom row.. HMS Manchester and the superstructure for it. My two rubber band boats are in a rack behind the camera and the SRN4 prototype is propping up the workmate. Sorry, not very glam. Ashley

                                        Nice one Adrian

It looks like a great space to build a model as you will be warm and dry with homebrew at your elbow all that is missing is a kettle and portable TV.

Keep us updated on the fireboat, which is one of my favourite models, is it going to be kit or scratch built?

Yeah its nice space although a tad cold as its the old coal sheds that were knocked into 1 long room.

About the homebrew, just a shame that particular batch of lager in the barrel didnt work, smells like lager taste like water, on the other hand, just about where i was standing to take the picture is my homebrew wine which is fantastic, not sure that drinking a bottle of that while using a craft knife is a wise idea though.

                                                 thanks adie

It is a 10.2 meter Nissan UD with a 12 litre diesel rear motor and running on a 12 ton sticker. We carry two canoes on top, they are on a motorised bogey that runs them down the back of the bus when we need them.

This is were I am allowed to work when it is raining (which isn’t very often in NZ. Yeah right.) There are serious disputes over territory when it comes around to meal preparation time. Guess who always loses. On fine days I work under the awning with a workmate bench and picnic table.
