It certainly harks at a long gone era of boating on (for instance) the Thames.

It is that classic cream and wood colour, cant beat it.

Cucumber sandwich, anyone??

Its more than just the colour, its the whole boat….the gentle curves, the way that the chine melts into the hull and the beautifully smooth passage through the water. It might seem an odd thing for an engineer to say but this little boat is poetry in motion.

Ian has achieved what I have been trying to create for years where design, engineering and construction all come together in one single and beautifully simple object.

Blimey! You've got me blushing over me bacon and eggs this morning!

I designed this hull with a simple boat design program called Plyboats. It is a double chine hull, although Peter Arnott, when looking it over at Cheddar one year, mentioned that it could easily be rounded out to a round bilge hull. (Name dropper!)

The boat was originally steam powered (Cheddar Pelican with a home built vertical boiler) but I turned it over to electric power a couple of years ago as I lost heart with steam powered models. I have had a resurgence of interest in steam and hope to start an enlarged Guardsman with a Gemini plant installed.

The figure is an action man with an overall application of DAS modelling compound.
