They were sailing IC`s on Llanberis lake last weekend……………Is this Paul`s lake then?

Had a good look at the gear inside………..Looked hard work starting those engines!

So it`s back to the good old electrickery for me!

Our pond MAY have a speed limit placed on it some time in the future, due to apparently several duck/swan woundings by RTR fast electric types. I dont know how on earth they will measure the speed of a vessel, they will probably simply ban anyone who gets reported by a grumpy old fa##t. I dont know why they cant simply ban RTR types (as these are the culprits) but of course that is too difficult. Its easier to simply ban “en mass”.

Negative legislation is always easier than positive legislation, and cheaper. Much easier to simply pass a law, say, seat belts and air bags, rather than get to the root of any problem.

So I think it is with i.c craft. Too many poeple not being sensible in their use, not enough done by the manufacturers to deal with silence and/or pollution. Ban them.

        Its so easy.

In fact I would ban steam, myself. Far too dangerous. Possibility of scalding to the general public, possible explosions and not to mention the risk of starting a potentially catastrophic park fire with all that flame and fuel.

Then there is the COSH thing. How many steamers have had the relavent training to handle hazardous materials (fuel) etc?  is their fuel safely stored and transported? have they carried out a risk assessment foir the sailing area? do their vehicles carry the relevent Hazchem warning label?

          See….its all too easy

Oddly enough when I was talking to the local authority about sailing IC on this lake they said that if they were forced into banning IC then they would also have to ban steam and fast electric.

One of the reasons why I wont reveal the location of this lake is to prevent it being overrun by petrol heads which would be very unfair on the resident club.

Nice to see this thread again.
