Hi Guys

Just to let you know that we in South Australia are having a bit of a warm spell

in 1939 the temp got to 46.1 C 114.98 F.

now 80 years later we are having the same tomorrow Thursday 24 th ,but it could be even hotter in Adelaide and break the record.The rest of the state will be even hotter closer to 50C 122.F so enjoy the cold in your home town/ city were ever you live in the UK!

It has just started snowing again and the temp is around -9, I,m sat in my lounge looking out at my frozen car and wondering how long it will take to thaw it out.

Hi Hutch,

Its a bit colder here in East Yorkshire. It's -2 deg C outside at the moment (11:00 am) but bright and sunny and our solar panels are still managing to export 2.06 KW to keep the rest of the country warm and powered up.

Went into the workshop this morning and it was a balmy -1.5°, so I left the heater on while I had a coffee. The doorbell's just rung – it was a brass monkey asking if I did any brazing….

Just goes to show, the 'weather' & all that goes with it, hasn't changed since I was a boy in 1960, yes the seasons have moved about by a month or two, but it is no colder, nor is it much different than it was in 1960.

Yes we had a couple of 'White Xmase's in the 60's & 70's, but we also had a lot of snow & ice in the early 80's, if you look at the records, all this total Boll–ks about climate change, is a load of "making the stats to suit your agenda" , there is no such thing as "Man Made Global Warming" , this planet will do what it wants, if you think that "MAN" is powerful enough to influence the universe, then I hope you are not a 'church' goer, because you are going to be praying to a GOD who doesn't exist, otherwise he/she (note the lack of sexism) is obviously lacking in the power to direct the occupants of this planet in the way they should behave.

No disrespect meant to any living soul, but I just prefer building boats, than propping up my crutch to an invisible entity that requires me to attend a freezing cold pile of bricks on a Sunday morning.

Well its a record the hottest ever for Adelaide CBD reach 46.6 c and 47.7c in the of suburb Kenttown

Its a record the hottest ever for any Australian city.and we are the southern most city on the main land

so there you have it !!!

The heat must have affected the maps over there.

Melbourne is on the mainland of Australia and more southerly than Adelaide. Canberra too.

Not the hottest capital city either, Sydney had a 47.8 degree C back in 1939. I know 0.1 of a degree.

I will concede the highest temp recorded in Australia to Oodnadatta South Australia in January 1960 of 50.7 degrees C.

Incidentally the highest ever temperature ever recorded was 56.7 °C (134.1 °F) on 10 July 1913 in Furnace Creek (Greenland Ranch), California, United States

I did get my facts wrong sorry.

getting the city's" positions out of order, as you say it must be the heat!

As for the hottest city at the moment it is Adelaide.I was not living in Australia in 1939 I was only One year old !

All in good humour. As an honarary Victorian, I’m an import from the mother country, I believe it’s compulsory to have a dig at South Australians at every opportunity.
I just glad we live relatively near the coast and get a sea breeze most evenings, although it’s going to be 27 over night here. After 40 plus years here I still don’t like the heat, I’m just not designed for it.

I moved to Australia in 1960 lived in Sydney for the first 25 years but left in 1986 as it was becoming quite dangerous with muggins/ drugs etc etc so moved to little old quiet Adelaide town. You are lucky having Flot a boat in your home city.

We modellers have to import just about everything, as our local hobby shops stock very little in the way of fittings apart from high speed boats!!

Well Barry,

I am happy with the heat only if it is with low humidly, Sydney has high humidly that's why we left but Adelaide is just as bad it started about 4 years ago I was born in Portsmouth came to Australia in 1960 a ten pound pom have been back three times for a visit ,don't like the cold thank you. I like your paddle wheels.mine are made from ABS sheet all hand cut same as the rest of the tug.

I came to Geelong with my parents when I was 12 back in 1972. Thankfully we didn't end up further north.

Got the tail end of your weather today 43, cool change has kicked in thankfully. Our eldest son has a friend in Canada who says that it's -19 where she is, apparently that's not cold. Where her parents live got a cold weather warning -29 degrees C. High teens, low twenties suits me, don't like the humidity either.

Float a Boats about two hours drive from home on the other side of Melbourne. The local hobby shop is mainly trains and planes.

Glad you like the paddle wheels, do you have some? They started as a small project just to see if I could do them after seeing a laser cutting demo and snowballed from there.
