hi Bob….be as nosey as you want…….I always say, if you’re not nosey you never learn nowt. lol
We go to Scotland ( to be specific…Largs on the clyde coast) every year for our holls…..and from Largs runs a little ferry to the Isle of Cumbrae…..and my daughter who is into model boats and loves watching me build and sails them for me……wants to build one of those ferries………It’s called Loch Riddon, (if you google the name and select images..loads come up).I actually don’t have any of her side on at present
so this year we paid a call to the CalMac headquarters in Gourock and I had a word with their Engineering manager…….he asked me to email him when I got home and within 2 days of emailing GA and Line drawings and a cdrom with pics of her were on our doorstep…….an absolute wonderful chap and fantastic service and help.
When I looked at the plans it was then that I found she was propelled by Voith Schneider props…….
anyway..it’s now down to the build which I/she /both will be starting in the back end…..I’ll get the plans enlarged to 1:25 giving a hull length of about 45 inches( guess as I haven’t yet measured her) and this will give a good size for thye beefy VSP’s.
neil.
PS…she’s not the prettiest of ferries but mollie thinks she’s “cute”…..ceste la vie….at least she’ll be interesting and different.
