      Hi Michael

Its not just an exercise in simplistic design as it does have some real world playtime value although the prospect of a hovertank does create a few design paradoxes.

      Hi Trevor

Firing and traveling in reverse would create a very fast tank and be a perfect example of equal and opposite reactions, in fact the twin fans on the rear of the turret are designed to resist the recoil effect when the cannon fires (which looks good on paper but I wouldn't want to be the poor sod who pulled the trigger)

The concept design is based upon the Griffon variant chassis that I built some time ago.hover decor 1.jpg

Its just a bit of fun working out how brushless motors would work on a 3ft hovercraft.

So its not a none project but it is a thinking project.

It was the recoil I was thinking of but with the BB's it should be OK.

I have a Griffon that really needs brushless motors – I will have to dig it out of the loft and try some motors.

          Hi Trevor

The BB's was just going to be a bit of fun for my grandson, but of course I'm not building the hovertank because its not a project.

I tried getting the Heng Long firing unit as a spare part to build into the 2m Corvette to fire chalk pellets but there was no stock, so it still awaits modification.

I look at flebay when I need bits like the firing unit, its surprising how many toys and models are sold as non working or for spares and repair. Helicopters, tanks and boat bits are cheap as chips.

                Nice model, Paul

Daft question……Why have a floppy skirt?

I think a wooden skirt would work just as well and much simpler to build too?

                  Bob

A wooden skirt wouldn't be able to travel over uneven ground and would add extra weight to the model.
