Hello Jerry and welcome to the Forum.
Few of the vintage prints etc. you may see will contain sufficient information to build a model. To do that you need a 'lines plan' which enables you to build a three dimensional model of the hull. The lines plan needs to be supplemented with general arrangement and deck plans. None of it is rocket science but there is a steep learning curve to get up to speed.
With modern designs, very little useful information on hull forms finds its way into the public domain for commercial reasons.
If you are moving up from kits then probably the best route is to buy a scale modelmaker's plan as these will often give advice on constructional methods which can be very helpful.
I don't know what you are particularly interested in but if you have a broswe through the Model Boats Plans Catalogue, now marketed by Sarik Hobbies you may find some possibilities that interest you.

These plans of course have the advantage that in most cases they are full size so no enlarging or reduction is needed although you have the option of using a copy shop if you want to change the scale.
There is a good chance that someone on here will be able to give you fiurther information on any particular plans that catch your eye.
We will look forward to hearing from you.
