After numerous requests from Kevin and certain kinfolk, I`ve decided to get back on the job and make a determined effort to finish the boat off

First job is to get it on the water and see how she looks and sails, now that the weather is slowly improving, before getting down to the final bits and pieces

Progress is a bit slow at the moment, but I`m making progress in the RC Dept

I suppose the thought of sailing in the Winter months, dampened my enthusiasm, somewhat!

After a few lack lustre sessions of memory trials and tribulations, I`ve finally got the power train sorted out!

The cooling fan, seems to a useful feature, as it`s blown all the sawdust out of the Rheostat area!

Haven`t got Coniston Pool now for test floats, as it suddenly popped during a cleaning operation, so the bath will have to make do for the ballast assessment

Last year, I guessed the about 20 lb would do the trick………We are about to find out!

Was pleased to see Silver Mist is afloat at long last…..After 12 months into the build

With no ballast, the waterline is 50mm above the water, with a slight leak somewhere

Will load in 10 lb of lead and report back

The fan blade is pretty lethal, so I`ll make a nice wire mesh guard, to please the Health and Safety chappies

It should look the biz too?

I`ve added 10 lb of lead……..Uniformally arranged along the hull and guess what?…….The waterline went down by 1"…….Equally too!

So another 10 lb should do it?………Not forgetting the cabin structure

The Fan Unit is done and the electrics are working fine……And now….?

Can`t believe it really, but………..She`s ready to sail !

Can`t go tomorrow………The lake will be too busy

Well done Bob. It`s always exciting, that first voyage into the unknown. Of course with a tried and tested design such as wot you have built (albeit to a different scale) there will be no problems, no, of course there wont. A bit of ballast or weight distribution perhaps.

Good luck with the maiden flight, you'll need some big gel cells in lieu of all that lead to get her down to the waterline
