Hi all. I am new to this forum as my main hobby is RC aeroplanes rather than boats.

As my first lockdown project, I have completed a Revell Flower Class Corvette which I have converted to radio control. I managed to get a successful maiden voyage before Christmas but any further trials will have to wait.

My attention has turned to the Veron Vosper patrol boat. A friend of mine built one (probably in the 1960s) and after a bit of use it was consigned to the loft. I want to get it going again.

It is is generally good condition. It has a Merco 60, which seems to turn freely but might need replacing and the radio will definitely be replace with modern gear.

My main problem is with the bridge/ superstructure. The smaller items, masts, radar etc have been knocked off and I need some plans or photos to know what I have to replace. Some of the photos online show torpedoes each side but my friend doesn't think they were ever part of the kit.

        Can anyone help?

        Thanks david

          Welcome to the Forum David.

The Veron FPB is the big 52 inch one I believe?

If you Google Veron Fast Patrol Boat it does come up with some images you may find useful.

There is an article by Phil Parker about Veron on this site but it only has a brief mention of the FPB.

The original model was intended for IC power but these days it can be difficult to find anywhere to run this type of model on public ponds.

It would be possible to substitute a brushless electric moror and LiPo batteries and no doubt someone on here will be able to suggest a suitable combination if you wish to go down that route.

There is plenty of reasonably priced 2.4Ghz radio gear available these days but with an electric setup you will need a suitably rated speed controller.

Is this the correct model which you are researching? Found this photograph of the Veron Patrol boat in Vic Smeed's book, Model Ships.

              Hello David,

Last year I completed a fast RAF Rescue style launch. If you go to 'Albums' on this forum and search "Dave's RAF Launch" you should find a series of images which may be of some help.

It was started by my son and a friend and left for me to finish ! It's what I call fun scale though – not too serious as it's an 'own-design'. I designed the lift-off superstructure, added a rotating gun turret, mast, search light, radar reflector etc. mainly from internet images…

The hull has a step to assist planing and it uses a brushed motor with a LiPo battery pack. It planes quite nicely on about 3/4 throttle and uses an old-fashioned (I prefer "vintage&quot radio and speed controller.

              Any questions – just ask,

              Dave C

I have to admit I haven't found this album. There seem to be pages and pages of them with no search function so I got bored by about page 6.

I have made quite a lot of progress with the aid of Google. It seems to be a model of HMTS Courtland Bay and have found a few photos of the real thing as well as a few of the model.

The superstructure is wellon the way to completion and i will be doing some painting soon. I am going to stick with the Merco (I even have a spare one if needed) and will fit some of my surplus 35mhz kit.

I noticed on some of the photos superb model sailors. Does anyone know where to get these. They are approx 1/24 scale.

                      David

Hope you found the Album – Colin's instructions work perfectly – I'd forgotten there was no search function.

Regarding the sailors, I used 1/48 German infantry (Revell I think), with suitable 'surgery' and painting. They are approx. correct for my size of boat – 16" length overall. I think the model tank crews are available in larger scales, the other possibilities may be model railways – try the garden scales.

There may be other specialist suppliers too – I expect the others will know of these…

                      Regards,

                      Dave C

                        HI

yes thanks – I now see how to do it – a great model.

As to figures, I have found some on ebay which may be suitable.
