Hi, I am looking at building the 1/350 scale Trunpeter kit of the Nimitz aircraft carrier with a view to putting radio control in it. Is this practical without loosing detail in the kit. I am aware of the size and complexity of the model but have built plastic kits for over 45 years, and though I am fairly new to model boats, I have aero modelled for 15 years. Nothing like a challenge !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Hope someone can help.

      Cheers,

      Denzil.

            Hi Denzil,

Have you read the May 2013 Model Boats magazine? there are two items on converting plastic kits to r/c, a 1/700 KM Bismark and a Revell LCM 3 Landing Craft. Plastic magic has become popular recently and there must be many more items prior to these.

Action Electronics market products specially for these conversions, on their website speed controllers and micro motors can be found.

Hope this is of help, Tony.

                Thanks Tony,

It sure seems possible, and as the 'Nimitz', if I go ahead with it is nearly 1 metre long space shouldn't be an issue. What I really need to know is will radio gear and batteries etc. fit below the hanger deck and still enable access.

                Cheers,

                Denzil.
