If we ever have to empty the pond Trevor’s got the pump for it! What a monster!

Good mornings sailing today and a good chat to some interesting people, met a retired airline pilot whose in to model trains, just goes to show there’s a hobby for everyone!

Need to get more range on my canons, will fettle that this week, any excuse for a test sail.

HOWEVER. Ships in action on pond. Cap`n Richards pirate ship and Tirpitz. Other boats too secret to post…

              Ashley,

A very well camouflaged Tirpitz, I must say, at least in that photo!

Am a tad puzzled, though, by a pirate ship that flies both the Jolly Roger and a Union Jack …

Its obvious…they are English pirates, eh?

I thought the Tirpitz picture was great and just the sort of thing you see in books about the war at sea.

I could put a boring picture of Richards Tirpitz up there in all its well detailed glory but you all know what a great model looks like.

My pirate ship Minataur was built under modellers license, it’s loosly based on a fourth rate ship of the line.

I built it to look the part when afloat and to sail as square rigg is interesting to sail to say the least!

All kids love pirates even grown up ones! Something interesting on the water is good for the public and good for the hobby.

                        Hi all,

Went to Bushy Park Wednesday morn, the weed was bad so suggest we wait till there’s a West wind to move it up the other end. Also next week is the Hampton Court flower show so parking could be an issue.

Ricky ye pirate (waiting for the weather gauge, yarrrh!)

Parking has been ok previously when flower show is on.

Weed??? Wait and see, but may be flying-boating Sunday just in case.

Project S (for Sutcliffe) has been outed now by Colin, see home page. It has been styled on the first pop-pop propulsion boats, and I can reveal that this may be the ultimate weed beater. Using a much larger inlet, covered in ally mesh (to keep the intake water velocity down), it may just be the way forward for weed free boating…other than using skimmers or hovercraft.

Many thanks to ex editor GrahamA who took such great snaps of S using a big lens and many reels of film many bits.

Project V…well, wait and see. Prepare to be amazed…

I swear by mine Paul. Wouldn't be without it and it's superb for all sorts of shots. I particularly like it for candid / natural people shots when you don't want them to know you're there… I know what you're thinking but stay focussed. Oh and it does great flying shots, too. smiley Good bit of kit.

DM. Project V is the gizmo one.

Project S was of course S for Sutcliffe.

Very pleased with the way it turned out, likeness as close as you could get (probably) without having one to measure. Hull very easy to make and its a wonder more people do not use this method. Building this with POF would have been tricky. The pump section stays wet for days on end and one of the reasons I used fibreglass (no rot).

I don't know what photos have been used, but GA did take a snap of the pump pushing water out of the twin exhausts, about an 18 inch twin fountain, well impressive (on 9.6v only).

Now that would be a treat to see. Come on, ExEd – don't be shy. I'm none the wiser about Project S, even with the name as a clue. The only Sutcliffes I know of were a noted Yorkshire + England cricketer and another Yorkshireman who was notorious for all the worst reasons.

Cheers GA Yes, that's about it! The bow wave looks a bit odd as you can see the black underside as a distortion through the "hump". More noticeable on a head-on view. Some time was spent fiddling with ballast to try and stop the wave crashing over the mighty steel decks at full speed

I think that of all the boats (or woteva) I have made so far, based on something real, this is the best. I have used minimal artistic licence, as described in the test.
